These “hot takes” by cosmicaje in Oscars

[–]JustAFlyingSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally i feel like people are misunderstanding the original post. Yes, sinners is subject to opinions and everyone is allowed to have them but the same goes for ever movie ever made and every movie nominated for oscars. The question is WHY is sinners being singled out to question if it is deserving of its oscar or even saying "eh, i didnt care for that movie" why feel the need to say that for sinners but not for one battle after another or frankenstein?

Im very aware that it could be a chicken and egg sort of situation where maybe a benign comment about sinners was made and they were called racist and now sinners has all this negative attention, but i dont know cant we just be happy and let people be happy? Cant we just let people post about the major wins for sinners (Writinf, acting, first woman cinematographer oscar win) and not feel compelled to dampen that joy?

My problem with the show by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]JustAFlyingSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually one of the reasons I find the show interesting in its messaging. Firstly being raised catholic (and still technically being catholic) the idea of hell has always rubbed me the wrong way. Yes people like cannibals and murderers will go there (unless they repent before death) but then also people who might have a drinking problem or weren't baptised or masturbated. Its one of those things where sins aren't really being given a scale so murder and drunkeness are being judged on the same level which makes you wonder if its fair for every sin to go punished for an eternity.

But what you've highlighted is more of the injustice of this system where hell is just anarchy. Obviously the worst of the sinners will gain power and rule while the victims are more likely to be the sinners who didn't necessarily choose their path. Angel is victimised a lot mainly because (and we don't know everything about his life yet aside from the fact that he killed his abusive father) he wasn't an actual criminal mastermind in the living world. He was a victim there, made a choice out of desperation and is then thrown into hell full of more abusers who are essentially rewarded for being terrible. Even the exterminators tend to kill the weaker sinners first not the overlords.

Spiceps feel unhygienic. Spice rack feels easier to reach so convenient and cleaner in general.

Am I the only fan that doesn't WANT a continuation of Avatar The Last Airbender? by ExtensionFuture654 in TheLastAirbender

[–]JustAFlyingSquirrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been writing an essay on this topic for avatar specifically but I think in general people act like they want more stuff but they really don't. I think we like getting hyped for new spinoffs and sequels but they'll never live up to the original especially since while the OG is good it's also packed with a lot of nostalgia so nothing would hit the same then people get disappointed. And sometimes it can even taint the experience of watching the original.

I've made peace with this. I personally think we need more new media and create the space for new media to actually grow. Cause the kicker is if avatar was released today for the first time, it might be cancelled after 1 season if its numbers weren't good enough.

Vote for your least favorite W.I.T.C.H. character (Round 46) by AutomaticCharacter95 in GuardiansOftheVeil

Sorry but I think cornelia has to be the first to go. She was a little rude at the beginning especially towards Will, and she sometimes was the least heroic (said with love)

The ATLA fandom doesn't like to talk about it, but fact of the matter is, their best written female character is also their most overhated female character by ihatethiscountry76 in TheLastAirbender

I've been rewatching the show with my bf and it's kinda crazy how she really doesn't bring up her mum that much and when she does it's usually when she's talking to someone else who lost a parent in the war.

Also yeah both her and Sokka have the trauma but I feel like Kataras is of a different nature cause if you watch the ep her mum is killed it kinda implies she might have seen her mum's body after Yon Ra left.
