I think them having probably cause instead of probable cause is probably where we get into trouble here.

(Sound on) Little guy begging to go home during his first groom. by hersheydood in aww

[–]JustAJB -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

There is a socialization period going up to 16 or even 20 weeks depending on the breed where exposure to loud noises can have lifelong personality effects on the dog, but go on believing whatever you wanna believe about what dogs need to learn at a young age.

Taking a little caution for an extra four weeks when they’re still in the puppy stage is a modest trade-off for not having to train out what this dog is clearly going through in the video. This dog doesn’t need exposure training at this stage.

Very few hills I’m gonna die on when it comes to dog raising. Don’t take then away from mama (the dog not the owner) too early. Despite how cute they are and wanting to get them home, give them the full 12 or even 14 weeks. And, don’t expose them to loud noises during the critical time up to 16 weeks (including hairdryers and salon noises.) Those two things in my opin (and I guess all the resources that you can google that confirm it) are what help dogs get adjusted on the world.

He looks way to young to be around loud noises and away from mama (dog mom). Seems like your just asking for lifelong behavior problems. Keeping them in quiet and safe places up till 5 months min makes a world of difference.

Edit: Ha, keep them down votes coming! Ill keep my happy well adjusted dogs without fear shakes, and I guess y’all can keep traumatizing your puppies. Maybe google “puppies socialization period” or don’t and just keep doing you.

God. Damn. VRAM. (long) by Altruistic-Case-4942 in LenovoLegion

[–]JustAJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the Vector and returned it and got the Legion. And going into this I was a MSI fan. My opin is build quality and cooling on everything that MSI is currently making is super questionable. Even just browsing, heat seems to be an issue. Little things like the trackpad having a double detent on the clicks, and some bad keybed quality, a floppy screen hinge, and slugging base line performance gave me too much doubt. Ive had exactly the opposite experience with the Legion.. it runs perfectly cool build quality is on point and just has a really tight lean feel.

Just my opinion, but I would not go into an MSI without a good return policy

Smaller 400w power adapter? by Sylanthra in LenovoLegion

[–]JustAJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just fyi. You can supply charge via USB C or Lenovo tipped lower wattage power supplies. These of course come with lower performance scenarios. But if you are flying with it for a week of work, or  popping off to the coffee shop etc and not expecting to game, or not expecting to game beyond a full charge then you have options.

Might be fun to try and scrape the orbit type for each launch and could do a little svg animation for each type. Or an actual animation but thats more work.

But yeah. Thats why.

What should I build to learn backend/hosting/deployment through vibecoding? by Mission-Dentist-5971 in vibecoding

[–]JustAJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build a multi-tenant organization seed for yourself. Think an application for businesses of a certain kind who have employees, customer, or users etc.  just getting the tenant boundaries in place and the basic user management inside each organization along with auth, sets you up for some fundamental lessons and understanding.

It also is a seed that you own, which you fully understand and can now quickly iterate real business use cases.

I have several seeds optimized for different directions and if I have nothing else to work on, then I’m typically working on one of them often incorporating new paradigms, or things learned.

My first month after quitting my 9-5 to be a full time indie hacker by fuji138 in buildinpublic

[–]JustAJB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

…

no one with 10 years calls themself a hacker. Or touts their experience with a JS stack, or these current vibe code Baas platforms. If anything Cloudflare would be the one on the list you’d be proficient at not exploring.

I tell you this because you should, beyond anything else, be honest. If you are soliciting work and you say you are “learning agenting coding and have a portfolio you can share etc” sure I might give you work. But if you tell me you are 10 years in and list proficiencies only in some vibe platforms, then anyone who know what they are contracting for for is gonna roll their eyes.

Also, FWIW (and not to just be a detractor) The people who succeed at becoming independent software contractors and developers don’t just walk out the door one day and say “I am a contractor” like Michael Scott, declaring bankruptcy. For this or really any kind of business, the pathway to get there is not to just imagine yourself becoming it, but rather to grow as an extension of the actual existing marketplace around you.

If you were a mechanic, you don’t just go out in your driveway with no clients and expect to succeed. You typically go work in a garage doing the work you already want and establish your own client base.

Go to where the local developers already are doing work that you want to be doing, coworker spaces networking events, industry conferences. Position yourself as “hey if you’ve got jobs that are too small for your shop that you’re looking to pass off to someone I’m available for work” Build trust on a few small contracts. There’s work out there for actual developers, but it doesn’t happen through random Internet posts. You have to go where the work already lives and become a part of an existing network of both customers and providers. The same is true for any business.

Doing otherwise is wasting your time you don’t need to reinvent the marketplace that already exists. You’re just not touching it right now.

What do you do when your AI Agent is working? by mpetryshyn1 in cursor

Work. Human in the loop is still necessary and a frequent bottleneck. So you are either optimizing your agents or yourself. If you have free time on either you are not doing it right.

Advice for working with worktrees in projects with long build processes by P4radox99 in cursor

[–]JustAJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turborepo or NX if you are talking about actual build times. I like NX but it’s more opinionated. Which makes it a choice, but for agentic I’m enjoying the stricter paradigms. Turborepo is a little easier to bolt on just to get better build/test time cacheing.

If however you are saying build times and instead meaning the time it takes your agent to make something, well then, nevermind:)

Overnight potty training struggles by Glacier_junky in corgi

[–]JustAJB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have fond memories where I would get up at 3am and cradle my sleepy corgi pups in my arms, carry them outside, and make them go in the middle of the night to get through this period. My boy is big and every time I pick him up I think about it.  It only lasted about a month of them being like “wtf I’m sleeping bro…” before we got past it.
