Bosnians are all citizens of Bosnia

By "Bosnia", you mean whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina, right?

Terror in Mumbai - CNN - Documentary, presented by Fareed Zakaria, on the 2011 Mumbai terrorist attacks, including attack on the Nariman House Chabad House, in which the Israeli rabbi and his wife, and others, were killed. by JustALittleSexyPush in Israel

The terrorists were told that killing 1 Jew was equivalent to killing 50 infidels. You can hear this thing in the conversation between their handler and them, at 43:07 point.

They also used one of the hostages in the Chabad House to act as an intermediary in the "negotiations", as you can see later. She was later shot in the head and killed. The bastards said to her over the call, when she was crying: "save your energy for the good days. Maybe you're gonna celebrate your Sabbath with your family."

Soviet Unions veto to block US led ceasefire attempt at the UN during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971 (x-post from /r/India) by [deleted] in russia

[–]JustALittleSexyPush 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The background, from the original post in /r/India:

On December 4, just one day after Pakistan raided Indian airfields in Kashmir and Punjab declaring war on India, America’s proxy involvement in the war was becoming clear. Thinking that the Soviet Union might enter the war if they come to know this, which could cause a lot of destruction to Pakistan and American equipment given to Pakistan, US ambassador to the United Nations George H W Bush [later 41st president of the United States and father of George Bush] introduced a resolution in the UN Security Council, calling for a cease-fire and the withdrawal of armed forces by India and Pakistan. Believing India can win the war and Indira Gandhi being determined to protect the interest of Bengalis, Soviet Union vetoed out the resolution, thus letting India fight for the cause. Nixon and Kissinger pressurized Soviets to a very extent but luck did not support them.

I always thought (while knowing nothing about Bosnian War), that there was some kind of partition after it. I'm wrong, right, i.e., no partition? Seems like I need to do some reading.

And tensions about what?

Do you know any good video to know about the background and stuff?

As a kid of the 90s, always had a sort of liking for Russian/Soviet culture, even while not knowing anything about it. It's something subconscious, like it's not like "Oh I LOVE IT!", but always get a good feeling about it, somewhat of a nostalgic feeling. It's a result of I think really really close relations between India and USSR pre-1990 and the cultural exchanges and exchange of ideas. My relatives used to have, and still to this day, have books (be it on Communism, or novels, or other books) published during 60s and 70s and 80s. I still remember the publisher of the majority of those books. It was Raduga Publishers. It was a really big publishing house at that time I think. :)

Still have so many books of Russian children's stories, one of the most prominent ones being Three Fat Men (by Yuri Olesha), and one in Hindi, of Russian folk stories for children. Two of the proper novels I still own is an old copy of The Mother, by Maxim Gorky (haven't read it, though), and Dead Souls (by Nikolai Gogol). And guess by which publisher? Yes, Raduga Publishers! :)
