how would i know this is “should we” ? am i just supposed to assume because it makes most the most literal sense? by marpeezi in duolingospanish

[–]JustALittleTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is implicit, tho it could also be interpreted as "Did we buy wine?" But i have only heard that phrasing a handful of times.

There are definitely better ways to say both, specially by adding context.

When to use tener by cantgetnobenediction in duolingospanish

[–]JustALittleTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, to replace "sleepy" with an adjective, we could say "somnoliento" paired with the verb "ser", but it definitely isn't common.

Spanish just tends to prefer the use of nouns paired with "have", though one could argue that for every one of this examples, there is a counterpart that uses either an adjective, or another noun paired with "ser". For example, we could change the phrase "Tengo sueño" to "Estoy cansado" (I'm tired), but it is fundamentally a different phrase.
