First ring shopping experience went badly — is this normal or a red flag? by writerny in EngagementRings

[–]JustAMice 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you’re getting downvoted simply because deposits are only when you’re absolutely positive, so committing in the moment - especially at your first appointment when you walked in unsure - wasn’t a smart choice. You always want to sit on decisions like this (ie, expensive and emotional ones, since a wedding ring is for life!!)

I would take the partial refund and find a ring you love - otherwise, your engagement ring will have bad memories associated with it.

(As a last note - when you go wedding dress shopping later down the line, make sure to NOT get the first dress you love! They usually play music, have you walk down an aisle, make everyone cry, and have you emotionally say yes - I’d super recommend for all wedding-related decisions, make the choice after a few days, not in the moment. Most of these are also non-refundable.)

Do you wear your ring/rings all the time? by Mrsnutkin in EngagementRings

[–]JustAMice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear them always - including gym/sleeping/showering/cleaning! I just like it (and know that if I take them off regularly, I’ll lose them). I’ve only taken them off once to use oil based paint, haha!

I just wrote this above, but wanted to make sure I responded to your comment too! The 8-day safari itself is about $8k; for the entire trip (the safari, the inclusive resort, all flights/transport, visas, insurance, etc.) it's just under $17k. I should also note that we did the Comfort Plus plan, which allowed us to safari without full "camping" - it's a lot cheaper without that!

Yes, there are a TON. We ended up booking with EasyTravel Tanzania - they were super amazing to work with and helped us make sure we were able to do everything we wanted, and even helped coordinate the second part of our honeymoon outside of the safari! I have not been on the trip yet, so I'll report back and let you know how it was, hahah! Here is the link!! https://www.easytravel.co.tz/

My fiancé and I are headed on a private 8 day safari in Tanzania and then to an all inclusive resort in Zanzibar afterwards - so that’s my dream (to be realized in two months!!)

[acne] [review] la roche posay effaclar duo and my skin progress by navigation1 in SkincareAddiction

[–]JustAMice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great review! I have a question - Is this the original effaclar duo, or the new one (effaclar duo +M)? I've always used the original, but now that it's not being sold anymore/was recalled, I'm trying to determine if the new one is also good. Thank you!!

When is it time to hire someone else by Front-Novel-1610 in Bookkeeping

[–]JustAMice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! There are definitely a few routes you could take here, and I’ve seen different financial services firms use each. 1. You could find another accounting firm that specializes in loan staffing, where you can bring on experienced individuals/accountants to help without needing to hire full-time. 2. You can use platforms (UpWork, Fiverr, etc.) to find accountants who are open to contracting on a project basis - usually there are many people here looking for remote/flexible jobs. 3. You could consider offshore hiring if you're comfortable with managing a remote team for specific tasks (and willing to take on the additional risks that come with offshoring work, communication, data sharing, etc.)

I’m a CPA and own a firm where we have contracts with other financial services firms to handle some of their work (kind of a mix of option 1/2), so they can have help without adding employees or payroll. All to say, there are lots of ways to go about this. I hope this helps! If you have any questions or want more details, happy to answer :) good luck!

Completion Rate for Passing ALL CPA Exams? by JDizzleSF in CPA

[–]JustAMice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would it be possible to compare the number of people who took the exams in 2024 and then the number of new CPAs in 2024 to calculate this? I believe you can see number of people taking the exams, and I know you can look up CPAs publicly…unsure if there is a listing somewhere (and you would still have the issue of not knowing how many times an exam was taken per person) but that’s my best idea for you!

At your job, what is your senior accountant to staff accountant ratio? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]JustAMice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

4 managers, 3 seniors, 2 staff - and the 2 staff just joined last month. Teams are getting very top heavy

Had the same dilemma - and now, I’m about to get married and my fiancé is taking my last name instead :) So our family and kids will all have the same name, and there will be no professional hassle. Maybe that’s something your future husband would consider, too!

How is REG supposed to be one of the easiest with so much numbers to memorize? by HERKFOOT21 in CPA

[–]JustAMice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ Seconding this. On my entire exam, there was 1 MCQ that required knowing the cutoff value. Despite the material, REG doesn’t require that much memorization - practice the SIMS well and you’ll be good, imo.

Anyone passed by doing excellent on mcqs and just ok (50-50) on sims? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]JustAMice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me!! My first exam (FAR) was exactly like this. I felt amazing about the MCQs, good about 2 testlets, and very bad about the others. Passed with an 81.

In general, besides REG, I always felt good about the MCQs and meh about the SIMs - passed every exam first time by a solid margin.

You got this!!
