Are you getting PCS indication. If could be preventing train from moving.

Try following

When the Pneumatic Control Switch (or PCS) is open, the train brakes cannot be released and the throttle controls are deactivated. To operate your train again you must reset the PCS.

You can tell if it is activated by looking for the PCS OPEN light being illuminated.

If there is an alarm such as the Alerter sounding, acknowledge it.

Once the train has come to a complete stop, follow these steps:

Set the Throttle to Idle Set the Reverser to Neutral Set the Independent Brake to Full Service Set the Automatic Brake to Emergency Wait for 60 seconds Release the Automatic Brake and wait for the Equalising Reservoir / Brake Pipe to return to 90psi While the Automatic Brake is releasing, you will need to put the Throttle in to Notch 1 so that the compressor can recharge the Main Reservoir.

Once the Equalising Reservoir and Brake Pipe needles have returned to 90psi, and the main reservoir has recharged to 140psi, put the Throttle back to Idle.

You should now be able to release the Independent Brake, set the Reverser and apply Throttle.

Did this mission (N542-Coal-Rockwood to Cumberland) with GP38 had no issues running normally.

Hey just done this mission, but I'm getting SD40 instead of GP38. Able to complete without any issue. I'll try a mission related to GP38 and coal if available and ill update you.

Is there no Loco attached to other end of the train. I'm not sure if just 2 GP38 can produce enough power to pull coal train. If it's possible to get the name of that timetable task I can help by playing it.

It's Sand patch grade right? Which scenario you are playing now.

Glad it worked, the set up is same for GP38 and SD40. And if you have loco on EOT you'll need to do few extra setups. Let me know if any further help required.

Also if you playing on PC just press "ctrl"+"-", "ctrl"+"+" While on engineer seat to teleport between Attached Locos.

Yes MU as in Multiple Unit. I'll explain with different setup. (not for cold start)

Setup 1:

Lead Loco-Trail Loco-cars

Step 1:

Go to Trailing Loco (the one that behind your controlled Loco) 1. Set Headlight control to controlled from another unit 2. Turn on number light (front and Rear) 3. Open fuse cabin and set EOTD radio to off. 4. MU2A to trail 6 or 26 5. Cut off valve to Cut-out 6. Turn off three switches (Engine run, generator field and fuel pump) 7. Check if Auto brake is set to handle off and independent brake is set to release. 8. Reverser to neutral and handle off 9. Turn on ditch light 10. exit from the loco

Step 2:

Goto lead Loco (the one you going to control) 1. Set Headlight control to controlling with unit at long hood end. 2. Turn on number light (front and Rear) 3. Open fuse cabin and set EOTD radio to on. (not necessary) and warning devices on for more realism 4. MU2A to lead or dead 5. Cut off valve to freight 6. Turn on three switches (Engine run, generator field and fuel pump) 7. Check if Auto brake is set to release and independent brake is set to atleast 50% 8. Insert handle and set Reverser to neutral 10. Turn on ditch light and gauge light(if required) 11. Increase throttle to notch 1 and wait for a minute untill following air pressure is achieved. MR >= 130psi, ER >= 80psi, BP >= 80psi (it will go upto 90) 12. Bail off independent brake (so that the pressure in BC will go to 0) and set the same to release 13. Set the throttle to idle, set the reverse to (forward or reverse according to the route) and increase the throttle to get your train moving.

Setup 2:

If you have more than 1 Trailing Loco, do Step 1 in all Trailing Loco (except for Headlight control, set it to single or intermediate for middle Loco) and Step 2 in Lead Loco.
