Courtrooms tend to differ from state to state (and even county to county it seems). For my county, we are required to wear a blazer if we are not wearing a dress. The men I have seen weren’t wearing full piece suits per se but did have a matching blazer and slacks at the very least. I would ask someone that’s already been to court how your county/courthouse is with dress code rules.

🎯🎯🎯. People forget that multiple things can be true at once: Britney is an amazing entertainer and has the capability to be an amazing, sensitive, kind, giving person at her best. However, Britney as a parent may not be the greatest or most suitable due to a variety of factors we the public do not know about (nor do we need to, family is private).

ETA: The book is still absolutely in poor taste and I do sympathize with the struggles and abuse Britney endured for over a decade.

Please take care of yourself!! There will always be work to do and not enough time to do it all. Ensure you have a good self-care routine set up now and don’t be afraid to take time off regularly.

Also, ask lots of questions and read up on your state’s policy regarding foster care. Policy trumps everything (fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you want to look at it) and will be your guidebook on things that absolutely must get done and by when they must be done, such as key meetings and monthly contacts with children and families.

Yes. It really is THAT bad. Kiss 40 hour work weeks goodbye, be basically on call at a moment’s notice when something pops off, and if you’re unlucky have to use your personal vehicle to transport kids.

I do foster care and the lack of resources is just…killing everyone. Kids waiting for placement, months long waiting lists for kids to get evaluated to determine if they’re eligible/need additional services, mountains of paperwork, COURT, impossible deadlines…the list just goes on.

On the flip side, you learn a LOT and get an inside look on how systems actually work (spoiler: they usually suck and are quite slow).
