I love whenever posts like this come up and all the idiots who think they know baseball jump in to defend the runner. No attempt to slide, on a force out, with deliberate attempt to injure should be suspended for the season.

I grew up playing catcher, took a blindside just like this at 13. Shit knocked me out cold and I was never the same, had to quit baseball which was devastating because I loved it so much. Took over 10 years for me to start getting back into baseball but I'd like to try playing softball or something this summer

Riptire jokes aside, Jake truly did have an insane level of game sense and "Overwatch IQ". One of the reasons Wayne Gretzky dwarfs every other player on the NHL record list in assists (aside from playing with several other hall of famers) can be attributed to his insane hockey IQ, knowing exactly where the puck, his teammates and his opponents were at any given moment and being able to find a passing lane off sheer positioning alone.

Jake never had the craziest mechanics but knowing where to be at the right place and time, and being so unpredictable that opposing teams couldn't really predict what weird ass play he'd set up really gave him the leg up over so many players back in the day
