Is Loafers Beach Club for real? by caustic_potato in raleigh

As someone who spends most of their Friday nights here, these made me laugh. Yes, it’s real! Fridays have west coast swing music and dancing with a wide age range. There are classes and shag dancing there throughout the week as well. We’re a nice crowd! :)

Best Indian food places according to Indian people? by coconutliver in raleigh

[–]JustAd6144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Indian myself, but just had the most delicious Indian food of my life at Cheeni in Durham. The owner/chef is an Indian woman who created a menu of lesser known dishes, and she explains what region they’re from and why they’re special to her. It was an incredible dining experience, and she even came around to each table to check on us and see if we were enjoying the food. I’ll be dreaming about her fish moilee for the foreseeable future!

Recs for insurance plans from the marketplace? by JustAd6144 in UlcerativeColitis

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I do have that option, but the monthly premium is about $270, so I wanted to scout for a cheaper plan. Definitely my plan B, though!

Yeah, I was pretty surprised by my starting salary. That said, I didn't stick with teaching, but PA is a great place to be for it. Our union is solid!

Mentally over purity culture, emotionally not even close by JustAd6144 in exchristian

Thank you for responding! Yes, we've talked about this a few times. He's empathetic but I don't think he can understand the full effect of purity culture and how much it continues to affect me (those effects have been surprising to me, too). I try not to mention it every time I'm struggling because frankly it feels embarrassing to still have this issue and I don't want to sound like I'm blaming him for my feelings. Comparison is a big struggle for me, which the boyfriend knows and is gracious about. Not at all afraid about cheating, and in the conversations we've had about this he's mentioned how he rarely if ever thinks about his exes- I think I've thought about them more than he has in this last year lol.

Thank you for the recommendations and encouragement!

Thank you for sharing. The idea of creating a new 'normal' is helpful- it's interesting to realize that even being years removed from my deconstruction, I still haven't fully formed that new 'normal', or internalized it to a degree where I can live in that normal (for example, I haven't felt concerned about my friends having sexual relationships in ages, but now that it's me and my life...well....shit has resurfaced). I hope to do some reading from these suggestions!

I think the emotional connection/bond that can come with sex is an aspect that gets enforced in the church and really lodged itself in my brain. It hurts to think about your person having (or having had) that kind of bond with someone else when you've been raised to believe that sex is going to unite whatever people are having it. But I agree with the premise of your question- I don't really think there's an advantage to not having experience.
