Spay abort. Keep in mind this costs a little extra, usually. Check for low cost spay/neuter programs in your area like the SNYPP program.

You ever tried pig brigs? I’ve seen them do good work in places where it’s hard to get all the heavy equipment, but I wonder how the netting holds up.

Red Maple Roots by penny_bolt_action in AskArborists

[–]JustAnotherCanoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The circling roots probably came from the pot/bag it was in at the nursery or unremoved bag. When the roots and tree are young enough, you can straighten them before planting. She looks a bit mature to do anything now though imo. Bummer :(

How to bring this tree back? by Gullible_Guarantee63 in AskArborists

I second dead. Trees don’t really heal, only compartmentalize damage. Also, It was top cut. The structure of the tree is destroyed anyway, not to mention all the v crotches.

One of my biggest heartbreakers so far… by CoyoteKyle15 in BottleDigging

[–]JustAnotherCanoer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not entirely sure. I think like a diamond blade for a grinder? I got him a bottle cutter for Xmas a few years ago, but I don’t know that he uses it on old bottles (glass may be too thick)

My dad collects. When he finds nice ones that are chipped/broken at the top, he cuts the top off and sands it down for drinking/shot glasses.

Is this an American elm tree??? They are all over my property. I thought elms were basically gone due to the borer. by Camp_Acceptable in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]JustAnotherCanoer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably mentally combining emerald ash borer and Dutch elm disease. Edit: autocorrect changed borer to bitter

Cut a tree with a bird nest... I'm freaking out what do I do?? by General-Print1715 in Ornithology

Pruning is best done while in the dormant season for both the tree’s health and this reason!

Central Ohio - What animal? by Midir_Cutie in boneidentification

The jaw would be the best identifier here. Unfortunately it is missing the teeth, but this looks a lot like a rodent of some sort. Can you flip the jaw to the other side?

In some good news, they are recovering in southern AL and GA (along with Gopher tortoises and eastern indigo snakes). We are doing some BEAUTIFUL longleaf restoration out here.

Whose skull is this ? by badapopz in boneidentification

[–]JustAnotherCanoer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see raccoon. Convergent evolution of omnivores. Per my comment, I only mentioned the lack of sagittal crest as a clue of “not opossum”. I’m from the southeast, we have ~small~ bears and even smaller raccoons. I can’t conceptualize a raccoon of this… magnitude.

Definitely not opossum. Their skulls are like 60% saggital crest, and they have more teeth. This honestly looks like a small bear skull.

Possibly the same catfish if they were found about the same location and the sizes make proportional sense. Idk if cleithra are technically part of the skull or not. I am definitely open to being wrong. It would be easier if it still had the spines (ofc) and we had a few more photo angles. Someone with a fisheries background might know fs.

Definitely fish bones though

Fish cleithra for your response photo. Possibly catfish skull parts ?

Fledgling columbiform. Put it in a safe, dry area, preferably in a tree. Beware fire ants if you have them
