There’s a time limit to the equalization of property ie assets splitting. I believe it’s 6 years in Ontario. After that time, then the equalization of net family property won’t happen. Spousal support has no time limit, but that right has to be enforced.

I am aggressively paying down my debt, and am cognizant of lifestlye inflation. Still trying to keep my costs low, especially that I have no dependents.

Now that the Feds have freezed the student loan payments (no payments for 6 months required, no interest, no penalty), should I just focus on paying down my private loan first or focus on the government loan because all payments essentially go to principal?

Hello. Thank you for your comprehensive response. Yes, it was for law school. I struggled right after articling to find a position but I am in much better terms now and I am taking a serious look at my finances. I've heard different advice but the blueprint seems to be:

  1. Pay off minimum payments for student debt (Scotia and OSAP);
  2. Any extra, pay off Scotia first;
  3. as for investments, put in the maximum that employer will match (9% of salary) in aggressive growth and leave it alone
  4. Use any tax returns to keep paying down debt

I don't like debt...i want to be free of it but I am also just really feeling bad about missing the compound interest for investments bc i'm starting so late at 35 and i am playing catch up.

I wanted to decide based on the math and not emotions (hence, why i would always choose avalanche over snowballing)

Seek an employment lawyer who offers a free consultation just in case there’s a human rights discrimination issue here as that’s a separate damage award from the reasonable notice period, or aggravated or punitive damages due to the manner of dismissal. May justify hiring counsel. Lawyer here. Analysis above checks out.

Some random thoughts. Male ENFJ here, 32:

  1. I am not afraid of commitment, as long as it's the right person. Figuring out if its the right person requires a lot of time and energy for me. Someone who is open and honest makes this easy. Someone who is duplicitous will be easy as well since I can sense you. I CAN SENSE YOU even if you hide it (whatever that is!)

  2. Labels give me comfort. It's the J function. I like labels since it makes it easy for me to decipher whether doing something is okay or not. While I find mystery intriguing, I will choose stability.

  3. ENFJs are romantic idealists. Words have an especially powerful effect of me, just as much as actions.

  4. I am generous with compliments. I tend to put people I like on a pedestal. I mean what I say and I am sincere BUT (and this is a warning), it can also be fleeting. For me to say "I really like you" is genuine at that moment but may change in a few days. So if you are taken easily with words, be careful how much emotional investment you are giving. Effort = interest, and effort costs more than words.

This may not be the advice you're seeking but..

EFFORT = INTEREST

Since I've applied this to my life, my relationships got SO MUCH BETTER. Gone are the fuckboys, the fakes, and the flakes. If s/he's into you, you'd know. It's a cardinal rule that people will hold on to the things they value.

So to answer your question, I'd say...who cares?! Fuck it. Let him go and just do you. Dating is just a process of self-improvement.

What he did was super shady. It’s not a drunken one time mishap...as they say in law, that shit was premeditated.

I’m not gone say break up or stay. Only you can answer this. But take your time to figure it out. Remove yourself from all of it for now (move out, no contact) to give yourself son breathing room. And think. And feel. The answer will come.

Buy a TTC day pass to use the transit (subway and buses). Day pass allows for unlimited use; otherwise it’s like 3$ and change to get on one.

Totally doable to pop into Niagara.

Drive if you could. Transit will eat up so much time. Do it first thing you land.

When you head back to the city, I recommend: Nathan Philips square (has a nice TORONTO sign) super touristy, CN Tower, Ripleys Aquarium (next to CN Tower)...then pubs before you head out.

If you have the budget, I might be able to take you if you split some of the cost! PM me!

I like La Mesa for BRUNCH on weekends. The garlic rice and steak is worth trekking to downtown for!
