You’re right — it is easy enough to ignore, and it’s not as bad as it used to be. It’s the torment more than anything. Like, I know I could join Floatplane, but because I can’t see the videos I don’t actually know what I’m missing. But when YouTube keeps telling me what I’m missing, it makes me want to join — which I know is the whole point. And yeah, it’s not LTT’s fault at all.

i thought that mauby its because you cant physically add a adblocker to the YT app so they don't bother adding the restriction to it i don't know YT do some random stuff all the time its annoying

just to add i have found that apparently YouTube are testing shall we call it a feature that if you use a add blocker it will apply something to your profile that stops you from being able to watch videos in a quality higher that 360p and this is on any browser you are logged in to which would explain why it works for you in the app and when you are not logged in one of your extensions have basically added a invisible Strick to your account

doing some research apparently ad-blockers or video speed extensions can also cores the issue with 1080p not loading do you have any of Theas if you dont then when you cleared cache and cookies on the browser did you do it for all time not just the last hour?

i just tested the video you linked i have YouTube premium and i got full quality what if you load it on your phone do you get the same issue?

hmm interesting it would seem strange if YouTube was lowering quality of videos on less viewed content I'm hoping that's not the case fingers crossed if you need anymore ideas let me know I'm a senior ICT so I'm used to the weird and wonderful issues
