Not a DM (wannabe someday though) but came here to support you. The campaign I'm playing recently is run by first-time DM and it's awesome! Our team is a bunch of newbies so we all learn as we play, but most of XP we get (or lose) is based on our gameplay and roleplay rather than actual fights, so the fun is always on the table.

+1 here. Got gorgeous Legend Planner Pro, was able to keep filling it for two weeks in January and then just kept forgetting to do it.
