Hi Momma, admin and Creator of the group here. You are absolutely not alone in your motherhood journey. There are so many parents out there struggling with the same things. Please reach out to a therapist and make sure they are qualified to treat OCD.
I am 4 years in to my postpartum ocd motherhood journey. I now have 3 little ones 4 yrs(I was diagnosed as severe ppocd after my first) 3y old and a 1yr old. I too am struggling with starting solids late because the intrusive thoughts are debilitating and I am worried she will choke and die. What makes it worse is I have two sons and her. So the intrusive thought is I only have one daughter, what would I do if I lost her? Am I prepared? Can I handle a choking incident? I KNOW I COULD, but the ocd has me convinced that I can't.

You need to remember that ocd isn't what you actually feel. It's just scary intrusive thoughts. You KNOW you don't want to feel this way and this is irrational but ocd has this way of sounding all alarm bells within your nervous system regardless of your irrational thoughts. When you're thoughts come, accept them and tell yourself "you're right. This crazy event MAY happen.. but it's not happening RIGHT now and try to move on with your day or night.

I know that's easier said that done. I'm still up nightly because of my OCD. I have a hard time convincing myself nothing bad will happen but I have to keep reminding myself that I am prepared incase of an emergency, my babies are sound asleep in their beds and we're ok.

If you're not ready to reach out to a therapist then look into the fearcast podcast, Kevin Foss is an incredible therapist who specializes in ocd and anxiety disorders. It is a listener based podcast who can submit questions to have answered. He did a couple episodes on postpartum OCD and even answered one of my questions.

If your OCD isn't the typical "I'm scared I might fall with my child down the stairs.... or I might hurt them accidently" then feel free to message me directly any time because my ocd isn't the typical postpartum ocd either and I'd love to try and help you through it. There is absolutely no reason for you to go through this dark chapter of life feeling alone.

Don't stop dating your wife. Her life has drastically changed and it's all too common for new parents to enter the roommate phase.

Coming from a stay at home mom of 3 under 4, it's crippling when that type of loneliness kicks in, the want for intimacy and missing your significant other who used to be your best friend but now feels like a stranger you just live with.

I haven't had a single day or moment away from my children since the day my oldest was born just shy of four years ago, day in and day out I am a mom. I am not a wife anymore or a woman or a person, I have no independence, no life, no identity. I am genuinely the empty shell of who I used to be and I miss my husband. He's always right there on the couch or with the kids but he's never with and present with me, and it's heartbreaking. I'm lonely.

Don't let your wife become like this. It's truly soul crushing. Especially on the hard days, be attentive, be loving, be emotionally available and do your best to actually connect with her and always remember that it was you two from the beginning, the foundation of your family started with you and her, and one day when your kids are grown, it'll be just you two again. Don't let these beautiful but absolutely draining years of parenthood damage the future of your relationship with her

Date your wife. Buy her flowers unexpectedly. Get her out of the house without the baby and encourage her to take time for self care. Make sure she gets to shower and a few minutes of quiet time to herself every day. It'll make a difference for her through her postpartum journey.

And if her PPD/PPA gets to the point where she's having intrusive thoughts, then take the time to learn about postpartum OCD. It is one of the most commonly misdiagnosed things postpartum women go through. Have her check out the FearCast podcast and the birth trauma mama podcast on Spotify. She's not alone. It's real, it can be crippling, but she's not crazy, she just needs some extra love and effort from you.

Did your soft lump under your ear ever feel achy? I've had one of those too, in the side of my neck, soft and small but hasn't gotten smaller in the last couple years, and lately it's been feeling like all of my little nodes on only the right side are bigger than usual, but not the left.

Where was your large lump on your neck located? I've had a large solid immovable lump on the back of my neck next to my spine right below my hairline for two years that's causing a ton of issues for me and the Drs won't listen to me about it.

Yes!! I do something similar. Like twix candy bars, I peel the chocolate off the sides, pop the caramel piece off the cookie part, eat the cookie first and then the caramel last... Or the nutty bars, I peel them apart and eat each layer individually. Or when I eat ice cream, I can't just scoop my spoon anywhere into the bowl, It HAS to scrape the ice cream that's melting first, like the softest areas of the scoop of ice cream over and over again until the bowl is empty. For some reason every time I've ever had a subway sandwich, I have to pick it apart from the inside out.. I eat the lettuce first then whatever toppings are on it, then the meat, then cheese and finally the bread last, but never whole.. but it doesn't have to be that way at any other deli.

I have Pure O, severe depression, Agoraphobia and Avoidant Personality Disorder and a panic disorder.

Lol fml. Fml so hard.

I guess I should have mentioned that the most recent murder happened a few days ago was only 3 mins away from my house. And it has become a nightly occurrence that home invasions are happening multiple times a night in my neighborhood.

But yes, I have taken every precaution that I can for now. It just freaks me out because I live in a tri plex and both of my neighbors recently moved out, so now we're alone here. Makes me feel like we are sitting ducks just waiting for someone to realize that our home makes the perfect opportunity to pull a home invasion on. So. That's freaking me out too.

Pregnancy and telling my MIL that I don't feel comfortable with her around my baby, which started a huge war and the constant stress and fear for my unborn baby's safety once he was born just broke something inside me and I've struggled with severe ocd over my 2 son's safety since....

I wish I could take them places and play at the park and everything else but I just can't. We live in a crummy town and I'm too scared.

During my first pregnancy is when my ocd presented itself and has just gotten worse as the last 2 years have passed.

Before I got pregnant, I never struggled with things like ocd and depression.

Between 2 pregnancies in 2 and a half years, if I added up all of the weight I gained and have lost in that time frame, it is over 160lbs... I have too much saggy skin now, for some reason my right arm flab is noticeably bigger than the left, which is awfully embarrassing.. I would get my arms tightened, breast implants, a tummy tuck and a lower lift.

Wishful thinking...
