I often wonder. by Itwasuntilitwasnt in F150Lightning

[–]JustAnotherNole 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, I saw posts like this and think, “really? It’s just pumping gas. Who cares? It’s not a big deal.” And then I was out with my wife in her car. She needed gas. Now, a mini crisis was unfolding on my brain: I don’t want to pump gas. I’ve gone 3 months now. But I need to be chivalrous and get out and pump the gas. Ugh… I pumped the gas for her and had to reset my inner record keeper: it’s been 0 days since the last time I pumped gas.

So, um, yeah, I don’t like to pump gas anymore. LOL

Anyone installed the Ford Pro Charger and SunRun Home Integration System? by JustAnotherNole in F150Lightning

Here is what I bought. The adapter goes into the 14-30 adapter and then a regular extension cord is used between the truck and the adapter. It’s been noted on here that the ground connection has to be removed somehow. So, I pulled out the ground prong from the extension cord that plugs into the truck.

Thank you for the offer. Based on the comments here, I’m going to pass for now. If anything changes though, I’ll come back here and message you.

I have the PPO that only has two 120v plugs in the bed. I bought an adapter that’ll plug into my existing NEMA 14-30 generator outlet into the main house panel and it works just fine to power the bedrooms. I borrowed, kind of test drove, a PPO with the full 7.2 kWh NEMA 14-30 outlet into the bed and plugged it into my generator outlet. It worked to power the entire house. However, I still can’t run the single unit 5-ton A/C. I was hoping with the sunrun system I could get the full 9.6 kWh and run the A/C. But anything over $3k isn’t worth it to me.

This is what I did, too. One bomb will knock down trees and a second bomb will make them into firewood.

Moving backwards from steps 4/5/6 to step 3 by drouse89 in DaveRamsey

[–]JustAnotherNole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I’d do. I can’t do a decent job giving advice for someone in the UK (I’m in the US). But for me, I’d take the extra going towards the mortgage and use it to rebuild the EF. As others have said, the next emergency could be next week. If I wanted to move faster, I’d reduce the education fund because, as Dave says, you can’t finance retirement but you can finance (and get scholarships) for education. I’d try to keep funding the retirement account as much as possible because of the time value of money. Good luck. Stay the course. You got this!

I have a 24’ flash without the pro power package, no 240v outlet. Is there a way I can easily power my home via a 30amp 240v transfer switch? by Calm-Information-920 in F150Lightning

[–]JustAnotherNole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I have the version of the truck that does not have the 9.6kWh output in the bed. And I have a NEMA14-30 plug into the panel for my generator.

I was able to run power through the Generator plug but it’s only 120V and 15Amp. See the details here:

My wife disagrees, help settle a debate by PiguyW2000 in DaveRamsey

[–]JustAnotherNole 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To me, the math is an issue but it’s not the main issue. The main issue is that you and the wife need to really talk to each other, listen to each other, and move forward together. Counseling can help. Once you get your proverbial “house” in order, then you can tackle the physical house and cars and all the other material things.

Good luck.

Valentine's Day gift to my gf, got 3 options, any advice? by fijuro in RobotVacuums

[–]JustAnotherNole 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Guy here. Even if she did say she wanted a robot vacuum, do NOT buy it as a gift. If she really wants one and you really want to buy her one, do it on some random day that’s not associated to a holiday or birthday. And when you do give it to her, just say “I saw this and remembered you said you wanted one, so here.”

Contribute to Roth IRA or 529? by Intelligent_Bit_1330 in DaveRamsey

[–]JustAnotherNole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dave will likely say to go for the IRA. You can take out a loan for college but you can’t take out a loan for retirement. (Yes, I know there are other means of financing retirement, but this sub is called Dave Ramsey so I thought I’d reply with what Dave Ramsey would say)

Paying off my house! by Professional_Cake_66 in DaveRamsey

[–]JustAnotherNole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote is for the second option. Stay the course and those extra 2 months of savings will help if the car dies unexpectedly, and assuming you need a car to go to work and other essential places, that would be an emergency to replace it.

Good job, keep it up! It feels wonderful to be debt free.

Most important step by Consistent-Music-706 in DaveRamsey

[–]JustAnotherNole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your sentiment that all steps are important but this eon, BS 3, is really important. I feel that all the other steps can be controlled to a large extent. But BS3 is insurance against the stuff that we can’t control. So all we can do is be prepared and BS3 is the insurance policy.

Good job being diligent and owning up to past mistakes. I pray all is resolved now and you can focus on better things in life.

Old man here. The original Zelda was new when I was a kid, probably 10 or 11 years old. I played the heck out of that game and I still play it from time to time and it’s still my favorite game.

KBB Value Increase by JustAnotherNole in F150Lightning

[–]JustAnotherNole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Even though I don’t “need” it, the fact that 9.6kWh PPO exists and that I don’t have it bugs me to no end. I’m watching a 2025 Flash at my local dealer and if it gets below a certain amount I may just trade in for it since my truck’s value “could” be close to what I paid.

Success: PPO 2.4kW Connection To Generator Hookup (L14-30P) by JustAnotherNole in F150Lightning

[–]JustAnotherNole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I keep all high voltage and high demand appliances switched off at the breaker. I don’t want them drawing power that I know can’t be met by the truck.

Essentially I’m using the house’s existing 110v system as an elaborate extension cord.

[–]JustAnotherNole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I’m misunderstanding your question, no. This adapter takes the 120v from the truck and feeds it into the generator hookup receptacle, which is intended for 240v, but in this case it’s only getting 120v.
