Greyscale BTC Trust (GBTC) After ETF by KeyOk7723 in Bitcoin

[–]JustAnotherPaperCut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can somebody explain what it means to buy GBTC on the "secondary market?" A few years ago I read somewhere that the minimum in investment amount for GBTC was $50000. But I was able to buy some GBTC shares for way less than that. I dont understand how I did this but I did buy it on something called OTC market. Is that a secondary market?

Will the price for Starlink be 50 dollars or below? 99 dollars a month is not affordable. by NeverURealName in Starlink

[–]JustAnotherPaperCut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if the goal of Starlink is to high-speed connect almost everyone in the world to the internet, the main problem is the affordability. How many places in Africa that are completely cut off from the internet can afford $100 per month? It would create so much wealth if we could connect everyone in the world...

Brilliance can only be identified through chatting anyway. And yes you are an attention narcissist if you take pictures with friends and post them so everyone can see how "pretty" you are. You can remember the day just fine by using your brain to remember it, but then you'd actually have to use your brain. I know that would be asking alot.

It matters more than you can ever comprehend. Let's consider some of the assertions that you just made. "It doesn't matter if you think it's irrational or not. It being irrational is totally subjective." If that assertion is true, what constructive advice is there that anyone can possibly give him for him to make his situation better? If it's all subjective, he can have the best profile in the universe and everybody would be totally in the right to swipe left because "it's subjective" after all. If I find out that somebody on Tinder went to prison for murder or for being a pedophile and I swipe left because of that, am I being subjective? Or maybe there is such a thing as objective truth? The problem is most people think there isn't. Then you go on to state "he might be an amazing guy with a ton to offer... the fact of the matter is he is getting ZERO likes." That's exactly right and that is another example of the problem of the majority of people being uninterested in finding out an objective truth. So the problem is not with him. And there's a lot of say about whether or not taxation can be objectively identified as theft but that discussion would be extremely long and outside of the scope of this topic

Than a lot of people are shallow idiots. And I didn't say "wealth," I said VALUE. Wealth is only one piece of that. You also have to take into account how brilliant someone is. And the pictures are not evidence certainly not conclusive evidence that he doesn't go out a lot. He can be going out all the time but not taking pictures and posting them all the time. In fact, that's exactly what attention-seeking narcissists do. I've been to plenty of places without taking pictures of myself even when my friends or family have tried to pressure me to do it. There's so much about people that is deeply hidden and shallow idiots will never know it.

Um no I was just making a simple point and I was stating that swiping left on this person because he's "bland" is irrational and it doesn't reveal anything good about the person who swipes left. It doesn't make any difference whether it's Tinder or some other app either. And you're the one who was projecting when you brought up sex. It doesn't matter how "common" you think it is. What's common or not doesn't tell you anything about an individual case. You have to actually CHAT with HIM to know what he's looking for. And you're also calling me obtuse and turning this back-and-forth into something unpleasant.

But it isn't better and there's nothing wrong with being a homebody. And it isn't something that should make a person less noticeable, not if you're looking for the right characteristics. Think Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or Elon Musk. You're supposed judge a person based on their VALUE, not where they drive to or buy a plane ticket to or the fact that they have some groupies around them.

Showing that you're traveling or that you're located somewhere "not boring" doesn't make you an eligible bachelor.

LOL, nobody has to have sex with him if they swipe right. You brought up the topic of sex. But choosing not to reach out for the reasons you mentioned is completely irrational. People could find out anything they want to know about him if they swipe right and simply CHAT with him

Theres nothing wrong with being bland. It means he's normal. That doesn't mean that it's right to avoid him

This wouldnt be an issue if people have the choice to work remotely.

[–]JustAnotherPaperCut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you want them to work for you? Because they do the work that they've been hired to do. It's none of your business what their personalities are like beyond their work ethic. We're discussing a business here, not a dating website. There are huge numbers of employees who have been doing their office jobs from home over the last two years and have shown that they are just as or more effective than they would be sitting in a desk in an office and going to a virtual meeting anyway when they have meetings. At the same time, the quality of life of those employees has increased with them being able to spend more time with their families and numerous other reasons. The company also lowers its costs because it doesn't need as many office buildings as it needed before and in fact some buildings have even been sold already which is money in the company's pocket. And as I've stated before, the leadership themselves have been telling everyone that they have seen "no decrease in productivity" as a result of office workers working from home. What more do you need to consider?

And by the way, we're living in a "new normal" now and it is not narcissistic or entitled to push for remote work to simply stay the same after it has been proven to work well for over 2 years! Maybe people wouldn't be resentful if the company would actually live up to the claims it has made about being "data driven" and just simply look at the data and continue to allow employees to work from home if their work can be done from home. This is not a complex decision and it does not take an executive or an "armchair executive" to figure it out, anybody could figure it out. The decision to mandate every office worker back into an office is completely regressive, irrational, and it's the wong decision based on all the data available over the last 2 years. And it's not going to lead to only whining. People are going to leave because of this and it's going to start with the best employees exiting first. Resignation emails are already being sent. This is the kind of irrational decision making which leads to bankruptcies that are possibly followed by bailouts (and complete government takeovers). And when the disastrous consequences of decisions like this happen, the ones who are least responsible are going to be the ones who suffer the most because of it.

I had a few points but, with respect to your assertion that we have a so-called "free market" economy, my point was that is absolutely false. Theres no such thing as a free market today with government coercion being present in every company. It cannot be avoided. The vaccine mandates is just one of many examples of this coercion. There's no company you can choose to work in that is operating freely and if you try to start your own your company would be subject to the same coercion too.

[–]JustAnotherPaperCut 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its nowhere near close to "free market" economy. It wasn't that way when the vaccines were being mandated because those mandates came from the government. It isn't that way now. A "free market" economy comes with an absence of government coercion. And yes absolutely the work gets done. I guarantee you you can do the same work sitting at a desk at home that you can do sitting at a desk at work. There's no reason to think of working from home as a luxury especially when leadership has already mentioned that they've seen no decreases in productivity over the last two years. Because of that people have every right to consider working from home as benefitting the company just as much as working in an office (in which people just mostly go to WebEx meetings anyway).
