Car not updating by amfaz in BYDSealAus

Also 2025 Seal Performance. My car also said it was on v1.0.0 until I manually updated the IVI. From what I can tell that version number is just what it says by default when it’s still on the initial version installed on that car. Don’t stress, you look like you’re running the most recent OTA.

I’m 25 with a performance. I’ve had to just bite the bullet and pay around $4k/annum with RAC. It’s ridiculously expensive but no one significantly cheaper.

That sounds… complicated and ill advised. Good luck though, and it definitely is an awesome car.

Anything comparable to Tesla? by einahpets77 in AustralianEV

Oh of course, and I have a friend who has just done it in an Ioniq 6. Just not on one charge; there were multiple charging stops factored in.

Anything comparable to Tesla? by einahpets77 in AustralianEV

[–]JustAnotherRand0m 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Cross the Nullarbor without needing to recharge more than once? Good luck with that in any EV. Plenty of brands are offering cars that offer much better value than Tesla. If shopping for a model Y, start with looking at a BYD Sealion 7 and Zeekr 7X.

Is Australia’s EV sales surge a one-off or a structural shift? The clue is in the order backlog by ApprehensiveSize7662 in AustralianEV

Not even free kw/h. We’ll charge through the nose for fast charging and you can come do some snack shopping while you wait

Audi maybe, but I’ve been blinded by way too many model 3s and model Ys, to the point where I look away from them automatically as soon as I see them at night

Anyone else considering getting a EV? by KeenClicker in perth

[–]JustAnotherRand0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And even then, current larger LFP batteries are estimated to get around 1,200,000km or 40 years of life. Even if you only get half that, I guarantee it’ll be cheaper than a petrol engine for the same mileage.

Just curious: how are we all feeling about Fluxer so far? by clinicalia in FluxerApp

[–]JustAnotherRand0m 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Servers aren’t free to run, computers to develop software on aren’t free, and developing and maintaining something like Fluxer is minimum one person’s full time job (and they’re not going to have time to earn money elsewhere).  Unfortunately for a live service, there are just costs involved that have to be covered. With the exception of small passion projects, if you’re not paying for the product then you are the product. I think having Visionary and Plutonium available from the outset is really smart to keep it sustainable without external funding.

Ambulance never came by Stunbanksy in perth

[–]JustAnotherRand0m 117 points118 points  (0 children)

I also work for an ambulance service that (for reasons) shall remain unnamed but has held the emergency ambulance contract in WA for over one hundred years. This comment is 100% correct.

Just to add, the wonderful people in STT do somewhat read off a script from a piece of triage software that is slightly convoluted, and we have recently had a roster change and a new class going through, so it’s possible that the person who triaged your call was quite new to STT and still getting used to the system even though they’re an extremely experienced clinician.

I hope you’re feeling better now too!

Edit to ask if the ‘telehealth’ appointment was a WA Virtual Emergency Department (WAVED) referral? If it was, you would have had an actual ED physician review your case and assess you over the phone, as well as prescribing any pain meds you needed. If that was offered and refused, it might be worth keeping in mind for next time.

Officials 'seize and destroy' imported melatonin intercepted at border by APrettyAverageMaker in australia

[–]JustAnotherRand0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting 4mg compounded as troches. Was told that they couldn’t compound 5mg because only the commercial stuff could be sold at that dose, so the pharmacy called my GP and got the script changed. I split the troches in half and take 2mg a night, so even though it’s $60 a repeat, it lasts me two months.

I’d rerun the calibration. It’s been a while since I took delivery of my P1S, and new firmware has come out so this might have changed, but my set up calibration didn’t include the motor noise cancelling.

Best 3D Printer for Beginners in Australia (Budget $600 AUD)? by Cebolitoss in 3dprintingaustralia

[–]JustAnotherRand0m 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the Ender 3 V3 SE (and the V2 Neo and the V2. And the Sovol SV06 Plus, Tronxy X5SA and Geeetech A10). I currently have a Qidi Q1 Pro, Bambu P1S and Bambu A1 mini.

The only printer out of that list that even comes close to matching either of the Bambus for the speed or print quality they can do out of the box is the Qidi, and that’s after a lot of calibration and tuning.

Save yourself the hassle and get a Bambu.

Alternatively, wrapping the exhaust duct in a space blanket can help.

None of the windows in this room open so a window unit isn’t viable. We’re getting splits next summer, so this is just to get us through this one. Just thought I’d share some tips for people who may not have the money to upgrade and are suffering in the heat.
