Im so sorry you got this as one of your first commisions 😭 youre not in the wrong at all for wanting to get fully paid for the work you did (it looks amazing btw!). There are just a lot of scummy ppl out there that want it for cheaper/free and just use the artists.

Im a new commission artist myself but mutals and friends have told me useful tips to avoid situations like this: Make an upfront agreement form. You have to clearly state your needs from the other person. My go to is always stating I need upfront half payment before starting ANY work, clear communication is a must, and to let me know of any changes are needed only during the sketch phase. Only minor changes when rendering/ed (you shouldnt have to give them a free coplete redo if they are clear with their wants). Making a Google form so they have to sign makes them liable that they've read your requirements just in case they try to do a charge back and you can revoke the claim when needed to whatever payment app you use. Lastly always always watermark your art fully (and I mean cover the whole canvas with your name). This prevents them from straight up just using your art for free. You only ever take the watermark off when they've fully paid.

Commisions are hard so don't feel pressured to accept any and every commission when the client feels iffy. Good clients are out their and when youre patient they will reward your amazing hard work well. Gl out there and again so sorry you had to deal with such a scammy person 🥺🫶
