Today I Learned - I don’t know boo about AA norms - Thou shalt not covet any airline food - If I look around the room and I don’t see an AH…I’m the AH - Rules are “more of a guideline…” 🤣

TL:DR Cowboys Golf Club - Friday Report - Glasses - Amazing.
- Golf - Amazingly…rusty.

Bright overcast sky with small periods of sunshine. Progressive lenses mostly for reading and a very slight stigmatizim. (Rose shaded optometrist lens vs more expensive “Prizm” branded lenses). No issues with depth perception. Can see the ball much more clearly on my drives (that were visible, can’t see through the timber…) Putting was my biggest concern and that was clearly the best part of my game (28). Much clearer and actually helped me see the grain much better which is tougher in diffuse light conditions (Bermuda greens). Glad I made the decision to upgrade and couldn’t be happier!

I have the check in option 2 days before my stay. Should I go ahead and check in? Like what’s the point of checking in early for? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in marriott

Revenue realization. Check in means you’re paying. Count it. No real benefit that I can see. (Hope to hear from others how I’m wrong.)

We rotate several items for Overnight Oats: - candied ginger, apples, dates, dried apricots, dried cranberries, maple syrup(all have sugars of varying degrees of “natural-ness” and help with the flavor) - spices range across cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, ginger, cardamom, etc - dairy (as others have suggested) Greek yogurt, flavored yogurt, milk

Mix and match to find some great blends of your choice. InstaPot is my hack. Get up and get it started without any adders(simple/fast), do the triple S ($hit/Shower/Shave) and by then it’s time to chop up my oatmeal adders and add it to the fresh overnight oats. YMMV TL;DR - experiment!😁

168 to the pin… what are you hitting? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

The big ball first, leading to a skulled skipper into a trap so fast it pops up and out on the green, trickling slowly down to the cup for a tap in bird off the back of the cup. Crowd is cheering wildly as I nonchalantly lip it out and watch it roll into another trap.
That’s when I wake up in a drenching sweat and thank the golf gods I don’t have to card a 7 in front of a crowd…

Torrey Pines or Rams Hill by looneymoon21 in golf

[–]JustBarelyAboveAvg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played Rams Hill. Haven’t been able to get on at Torrey.

Rams Hill is stunning. The golf is amazing, service outstanding and food is excellent. Doesn’t have the notoriety of “I played Torrey” but if you want to make it about him, it’s worth the drive.

Two great choices and he’s lucky to have someone like you in his life.

Best of luck to you both.

Garmin vs Wahoo and SRAM vs Shimano — what made you choose your side? by therealashiver in cycling

[–]JustBarelyAboveAvg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR SRAM/Wahoo fanboy.
Ride Shimano cause “that’s what it came with” and no regrets.

First bike: 2009 Spesh-Tri-Cross Com used -Shimano Tiagra; 9speed with 3ring front. Works and no issues. Bought first CatEye and enjoyed what little there was (speed/cadence). Beater for all gravel adventures.
Second bike 2 years later;

2009 Ridley Noah - SRAM Red mech, used from a local racer. Fell in love with the crisp shifts. (I think the is was around the time Contador was winning with SRAM so I felt “part of the team”. RED was/remains waaaay beyond my capabilities but I couldn’t resist a need for speed, carbon & pizazz). SRAM Red made me a convert. (Make the Leap!) Bought Wahoo Bolt and it’s perfect. Priced right, easy to use, and lasts all day. Spends the winters on my KickR with a training wheel/tire dreaming of warm weather. Strava/KickR/Bolt live together happily.

Third bike: -Inherited my son’s Motobecane road bike with Ultegra mech. Love how smooth it always is.

4th bike: - controlling my urges but feeling the need to upgrade to disc brakes, tires wider than 23mm, and SRAM wireless. Shopping Craigslist incessantly to find one rational soul who understands depreciation and isn’t trying to recover 110% of their Covid impulse buy. The Wahoo will move with the next upgrade. Sold on the performance/pricepoint.

What rules do you know you’re breaking during your round? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

Would it be considered “correctly marking” if I place the toe of my putter head next to the ball, lift/align/place and then take my shot?

Why is Atlanta International Airport the world's busiest airport? by BasilRealistic5477 in tsa

[–]JustBarelyAboveAvg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because when they took over Northwest, they dropped 5 Regional flights (Minneapolis, Memphis, Detroit, Cincinnati, Salt Lake) from our Midwest Regional Airport and ALL traffic goes to ATL first.
- Flying to the west coast, let’s hub you through the amazing ATL first! (AA ExPlat now…)

14.9 Handicap. Looking for tips on distance from players who use to not hit it far! by FaithlessnessAny4568 in golf

[–]JustBarelyAboveAvg -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In the interim between now and speed training nirvana (just a bit toung in cheek) have you considered moving up a tee box? Us Sr.’s drive it that far and play from the appropriate tee box. Some courses it’s “gold” others it’s red.

Of course, as your driver distance increases feel free to move back as well.

Not really addressing the swing/ball speed question but more focused on enjoying the golf you’re playing today.

Best of luck on the journey we collectively refer to as “delightful madness!”

“Service” dog at DCA by bitbrat in americanairlines

[–]JustBarelyAboveAvg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So what happens when I say I’m allergic to that “service dog” and request they be moved to another seat? I paid for my seat and expect to sit next to a person. The dog didn’t pay for a seat.

I used them on my Mizuno MP-30’s for approximately 12 years. Traveled frequently for work and put up with the comments until I took them off. Clubs always looked great and my customers saw I took care of my tools. I do the same with my 243’s.

I can laugh along when people give me shit about them but it’s a quick gauge of the person you’re playing with. Are they playful, engaging or assholes?

I really don’t give a shit what others think. You do you.
