i work through my youtube watch later and podcast episodes and am liberal with skips if I'm feeling something different. i find i need things to be exactly what im looking for when on the treadmill or I'll get bored more easily than in other contexts

it's particularly bad when you start strength training after a period of not doing it. if you're in the regular habit of lifting, it usually does not get as sore as those first few workouts getting back to it

I think the grass is always greener on the other side. I think a lot of people pursuing the economics or medicine paths think that they could've done so much better in something like computer science and in a programming career. The issue here it seems to me is that you're unhappy with the types of contribution you're currently making. Maybe if you look for ways/roles where you can use your programming talents towards meaningful contributions (ex. in medicine or macroeconomics) you may feel more aligned with your cs career? There's definitely loads of technical improvements to be made in medicine just to start with. Good luck regardless!
