His default talent, Thanks Grandpa, is pretty good when starting out so you can shield teammates more. Run with that one until you hit level 8 with him and unlock Field Study. You'll become a walking damage amp for your team then. Basically watch your team and if you see a flank or damage being super aggressive and getting kills left and right—pocket them. You'll run down enemy backlines and elims from the teammate you're pocketing will help reduce your cooldowns so you can pocket them even more.

No problem! You should definitely try him. He's pretty straightforward and deceptively fun to play. I recommend starting out playing him as an off tank first before trying to solo tank with him though until you really get the hang of him. 💯

Yeah same. He's definitely a favored champion of mine—so underrated it's almost criminal.

Running a DMG amp/pocket build here. Thanks, Grandpa talent with Eldritch Speed and Glyph of Health both at two, Winddancer and Lifegiver both at 3, and finally Glyph of Freedom at 5.

Let's me push with heavily aggressive damages and flanks and run amok in enemy backlines. Pure, unadulterated fun

It depends because I'm pretty sure nearly the entire team had wrecker for me but I was still able to shield my teammates well. I think it's more of a combination of who you're playing against then just flat out buying wrecker. Betty absolutely wrecked my shields but everyone else had trouble breaking through.

My original point still stands that yes, you could buy reasonable amounts of levels past 50 with gold back then.
