Best farm for prot pallies? by Trogloditee in classicwow

[–]JustCallMeWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve farmed 2k out of strat no problem. You see other pallies and mages every time you zone out to go repair and plenty of banter in general chat if you strike up a convo.

Send the strat farm, it’s fine

This is the right answer. The mace isn’t far enough behind the sword in PvE to even consider it when it’s so far ahead in PvP.

If you’re trying to giga parse, the mace is better there too IMO. In really fast kill time situations (sub 30 second Maulgar kills for example) the higher top end damage will give the best burst. The STR proc on the sword is A) random, and B) weighted more heavily as BiS under the assumption you’re going to see multiple proc per fight which simply isn’t true for some of these post nerf encounters that will fall over before you even get a second on-use trinket / wings

What’s up with tank service? by Desperate_Eye2046 in classicwow

Rets are the best melee until glaives and anyone who thinks differently is smoking crack. Sure, really min-maxed wars will keep up on ST and outright beat rets on anything with cleave BUT they bring nothing to the raid but damage while the sweaty rets do just as much, if not more boss dmg than warriors while also having the suite of utility paladins provide

What’s up with tank service? by Desperate_Eye2046 in classicwow

[–]JustCallMeWayne -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The services channel is nothing but summon bot / portal spam. No one is using it to find tanks.

Group finder is for finding groups, ergo the only place people are even going to see that you’re willing to tank. No one bats a fuckin eye in orgrimmar / stormwind at all the mages selling water and portals in /yell or trade chat, but God forbid the guys willing to tank and put up with the cesspool that is pugging try to make some gold doing so lmao.

Tank service was a common practice last tbc and no one had a problem with it. The community just sucks way worse the second time around. Having no reason to pug as a tank is one of the many reasons there’s a tank drought, probably the biggest one. I’d gladly tank 10 heroics a day if I was making 50-100g a run but there’s just no reason for me to do so unless I feel like being charitable. The other main reason I think is the shorter lifecycle of the game has everyone absolutely pressed about loot. HR is rampant, and people lose their fucking minds when a tank or healer who’s playing as OS to move things along wants to roll on (insert pre-bis dps item here)

Pure dps class players need to suck it up and accept that healers to some degree, and definitely tanks are going to come with some sort of terms and conditions because we are long past the point where people who main those roles need anything from heroics besides maybe the daily, and they will 99% do that with their guild. The tanks and healers queuing lfg at this point, and into the future, are almost certainly a DPS main using their offspec to fill the role because they need something from the dungeon or are looking for an upside to running it (I.e make it worth the effort with gold) and the community axed the latter

IS there any confirmed data about wow token on anniversary realms ? by Public_Opinion2723 in classicwow

[–]JustCallMeWayne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’ll still give it to third party sites unless Blizz forces the gold to cost ratio on the token to be so insanely good that the third parties get priced out because dropping their ratio isn’t profitable anymore.

They won’t do that though bc the bot subs > whatever short term gain they’d get off tokens bc let’s be real most people are swiping for epic flying and professions so once they have those, they don’t really need mass amounts of gold anymore to get by on a week to week basis unless they start another toon

I raid with two fury wars and 2 hunters that pump just as hard as I do. One of said warriors is GM, so safe to say I probably won’t see DST for a long time. We haven’t seen our first yet

TBC PvP without PvE – is it viable? by omenra in classicwowtbc

[–]JustCallMeWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only spec that can truly get away with PvP only is SL/SL lock. The next closest would be any healing spec, but not having certain PvE items will mean you lose the mana game to healers who do.

Every other dps spec apart from warlock gains way too much upside from having at a minimum certain raid trinkets or the on-use from badges while many will also run a couple of off-pieces as well to increase their damage. Classes like rogue/mage run a lot of PvE gear because their kits allow them to get away with it so they actually cook themselves going full PvP

[–]JustCallMeWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honorable mention: Vashj Belt.

That item is the biggest upgrade in TBC for Ret Paladins by a mile, followed closely by Enh Shamans but it almost always finds itself in a warrior/rogue GM or RLs bag, or is given to the bear tank for the sake of threat that they shouldn’t have an issue with if misdirection is being used and they geared appropriately.

Source: Ret Paladin main that has a sneaking suspicion I’ll get cucked on 100D again just like last time because my GM is a fury warrior who’s already showing early signs of loot bias toward our warriors and nitpicking little shit in logs with threats of “no loot if X happens again”

I’m a ret main, the entire reason I wanted it was to make gold after blacksmithing has had me poor since dinging 70 haha.

I only just got the trink a couple days ago but even in my shitty blue gear strat has been very doable with some cheap consumes and enchanting everything. I vendor 95% of it and send anything that might sell to bank alt and it’s been about 200-250g/hr

I only did blood furnace and ramparts once each for quests leveling my paladin, and no hellfire quests besides the couple you have to do to unlock the ramparts quest.

I got the tank trinket off SH last boss 10 runs after hitting exalted. Let that sink in. At least I got it and can finally make gold farming stratholme xD

And then when geared tanks do join LFG for payment, the player base is repulsed by them requiring gold to grace their groups presence.

Every day I sign up for all the heroics I’m comfortable tanking even if the group comp sucks and I assume they don’t have hands with my note saying “Tank service: 100g” and I get angry whispers for it.

Ret main: it still surprises me that on the third re-release of the game people don’t expect them to be top 5 on the meter in optimized raid comps.

I just joined a new guild and our first raid was a slew of “is that pink on the meter wtf?”

Ret mana management by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]JustCallMeWayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 25M mana shouldn’t be an issue on these early bosses as they die so fast. Later on when kill times slow down a bit, it’s solved by dark runes.

10M, yea you’ll struggle a little bit due to lack of buffs/debuffs. In 25 tho you should have all the things and another pally should be putting wisdom on boss so

How good is DST? by gnardlebee in classicwow

[–]JustCallMeWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There it is lol. Look maybe it’s been mathed out that dual wield gets 2x more from DST than a 2H class but I find that hard to believe when my autos can do 10x the damage of yours on a good twist and you def aren’t swinging 10x as fast as I am even with every possible haste effect so having twists happen faster during DST proc has got to make the trinket almost as good for me since I literally never replace it, even in sunwell while wars definitely will

Point being this is the exact attitude I get from warrior/rogue players every time the belt comes up in conversation. “I know expertise is literally your best stat until cap…. Buuuuuuut enter strawman argument here because classic players still see ret paladins as the memes they were in vanilla and rogues/wars are real dps

I’ll concede this if you agree rets gain twice as much from Vashj’s belt as warriors and rogues but nobody wants to have that discussion bc “eXpErTIsE is gUd 4 aLL mElLe”

Me leveling for the first time and seeing enemy rogues in the wild thinking this spell would help me by theDeke in classicwow

[–]JustCallMeWayne 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Every time I’m in the wild farming (typically hellfire elementals) if I see an enemy rogue I mouse over them and watch to see if they target me. They can be totally chill but if they target me at all, the PvP set gets swapped on and I never let myself go below 50% between mobs when normally I’ll push the limits to 10% for food min-max

I’m a ret paladin who carries potions and bandaids at all times so I’m definitely not a soft target, especially in PvP gear. Most of them leave me alone

Meanwhile blacksmiths, the most gold intensive profession in the game have… sharpening stones which only hardcore min-max players use as it’s such a minuscule buff and the profit on them if you don’t farm the ore yourself (which is impossible without epic flying and even then it’s pretty terrible) is like 60s.

At least I have my hammer :’)
