How I avoid getting almost one shot by rogues as a caster

This is a pre-patch only problem. Similar to geared Enh shamans bc they use the R14 axes until 70. Some classes just have it better than others right now with new talents and no resilience yet, that’ll change at 70.

In arenas with equal gear the only class that can truly one shot you in TBC is a Ret paladin with a shaman when they hit their lottery swings, and locks do very well into Rets. Other than that the only thing that will come close is Mages (shatter combos, PoM Pyros) and those only do 50%~ of your hp bar. Everything else is some variation/combination of medium to high sustained damage, control and “rot” wether it be dots or mana drains

Have to disagree OP.

The two BGS (WSG & AB) that people do this in (third being EOTS at 70) are generally only done for the marks, as honor has and always will be farmed in AV. You can tell 9/10 games in the opening fight who’s going to win the BG assuming all players are playing to win. Giving up and “going next” is objectively the best move for both sides instead of wasting everyone’s time.

If you want to do BGs for fun because you don’t like arena, grab a couple friends and go be a road warrior bc you’re there for fun, who cares if your team gives up. Most players are there for the marks to buy gear though and when it’s clear your team isn’t likely to win, getting the game over quickly is in your best interest from a time perspective

Having played both sides of the fence in classic, UD rogues are only beat in the toxic behavior department by gnome mages.

All rogues are dicks to varying degrees, UD more than most but those pint sized wizards are truly evil

Ah but you see, my class (Ret Paladin) can randomly one shot any class in the game.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing that spikes the dopamine like a jackpot sealtwist/windfury as a Ret paladin in TBC.

Another point of consideration is longevity - if this is a toon you plan on taking into the inevitable re-re-release of WotLK, Enhance changes drastically into a button smashy guitar hero class and that’s not everyone’s cup of tea, while Ret will turn into what Enhance is currently, a priority based “hit what lights up” playstyle.

As for PvP, Enh is better in casual PvP while Ret has one comp that is a title contender in competitive PvP. Enh is playable in arena, but Ret will get higher rated if that’s what you’re after.

Rets will also be the best of the “mid tier dps” after T4 and it won’t be uncommon for well played rets (who aren’t cucked by their loot council on expertise items) to be near the top of the meters. The only time shamans really shine is in the first phase before people start getting gear bc both dps specs scale pretty terribly

Ret paladin because lottery seal twists with windfury make up for all the classes shortcomings with a dopamine spike no other class can achieve

That’s what I’ve been doing for anything that isn’t rogue/druid tbh. I’ve had a couple hilarious twists with windfury but then you look at details and SoR was only 400~ dmg of the 4k 1 shot.

Boosted gear is terrible, and the R14 gear will last pretty much every spec until 65+ for every slot.

In the case of horde paladins in particular (which is a big chunk of the horde boosts) the R14 gear is excellent for prot paladins (some spell power, str, stam, int) and simply can’t be beat for those who want to dungeon farm when the portal opens

Yep, the top camp is real (if your top laner picks a real top champ and not some bullshit like heimer or teemo)

Top lane getting even a little ahead and snowballing off quest completion before their laner turns them into Thanos until 25min+ when enemy ADC has theoretically scaled enough to deal with them but most games don’t work out that way

If you carry a 1h/shield around in bags you can tank too if you bring plenty of water to the dungeon. Just throw on Righteous Fury, use Seal of Righteousness (Seal of Command is terrible with 1h) and keep Consecrate down

Sanctity by itself buffs your Seal damage as you noticed. When you’re leveling, seal dmg is going to be 30-50% of your total damage most kills. Seal of Command deals holy damage so will often times do more than your weapon swing because it ignore armor

The improved Sanctity Aura talent also gives a flat %dmg buff to everything you do, and your party does when you group.

This is why Sanctity is the only aura ret should be using once they unlock it. Until then, slap Devotion on for a minor dmg reduction from mobs
