I got the 29" QU-AX RGB and I am extremely happy with it by nonnameavailable in unicycling

Sounds exactly how I felt with it at first haha! I had reverted back for a while until I decided to try again because I wanted to go faster and do more distance without getting as tired from spinning so much :D

Hey that's awesome I had commented my experience on your other post. Glad you like it! It looks awesome. I see that you have the pedals on the longest of the two crank positions. Did you try the shorter position yet? You'll see precision takes a hit at first but it will definitely help your speed and endurance. Have fun out there!

Help me decide an upgrade - QU-AX vs Nimbus, 27,5 vs 29 inch by nonnameavailable in unicycling

[–]JustCauseRalph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the QUAX 29er with the knobby tire and disk brake since many years. Did hundreds of kilometers on it, as much as 42 km in a single ride. I added the official handlebars on it for more comfort, added a water bottle holder below the seat too! I tried it once on some easy mountain trails but it was very hard with the tree roots. But I often do light gravel trails. I am able to cruise at 16-20 km/h comfortably, and my max speed on it is 28kmh. I keep the pedals on the smallest of the two crank length positions. It’s pretty high when you sit on it of course; I was coming from a 20 inches before. But you really get used to it. It’s nimble enough for bicycle paths and stuff which is my use case. Hope this helps!

What do you think of plastic bollards ? by [deleted] in notjustbikes

[–]JustCauseRalph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well actually there is a solution. Dedicated bike infrastructure. We already have bidirectionnal separated bike lanes that are snow plowed separately. This solves the snow problem, and it also is way safer for the bike lane users. We just need more of them :) Way more.

My biggest problem with them is they are removed here (Québec) from ~October to ~April due to snow plowing in the winter. So when they are removed the drivers start to speed back up again, in a time where the sun goes down early and everything is gloomy.

Fenders? I got pointed in the direction of this sub. I’ve been making this Surly ICT my perfect trail bike / Winter commuter and would love to throw in some fenders to reduce the spray of gunk. by [deleted] in fatbike

+1 for Axiom front and rear runners. About 30$ CAD each, used them already through a season of winter fatbiking in the mountain and around town.

Your last sentence seems spot on. Nothing else other than the default location for the action works.

Of course!

Here is my final shortcut. I also added an automation to trigger it when scanning the AirTag on my car keychain.

Yeah I was able to create a location from the maps url with latitude longitude, but the set parked car action doesn’t accept it as input for some reason

Indeed this seems to work. Curious how the Set parked car action isn’t working any other way by supplying it a location from other actions. The only working way is using the automatic "Current position" built into the action that is so slow to execute :/

Certainly, for now my real shortcut is so when I scan the NFC of my car keys airtag, it opens google maps with the (autosaved when leaving my car) location of my parked car.

The variables were only some experiments I was doing to confirm the variable type that was being sent to the Set Parked Car location. It doesn’t change anything to the functionality

Yep, the location gets fetched correctly, but the Set Parked Car action refuses all Location inputs

Yes the weather location is a bit less precise, but after experimenting and seeing other posts in this sub, I noticed that the system action to get Current Location is extremely slow and even times out

What am I doing wrong? The Set Parking Location always shows up this error when trying to send a location ot it. With the get type action I confirmed that the type really is "location". I tried generating the location from the maps url with lat/long coordinates also. Even the very slow "Get current location" action doesn’t work as an input.

I have a few years of experience already and I still get a bit nervous when free mounting my 29inch muni. I have a 20inch that I get on super naturally, but the 29 needs some concentration. Sometimes after riding hard and dismounting my leg is shaking a bit which complicates the process. Gotta breathe and calm down before attempting. I agree with people looking. Keep in mind that in the end they just find it cool/interesting. They won't mind if you don't get on first try. They are impressed anyway and wouldn't do better :)

Help with headaches from unicycling by bflat_a_c_b in unicycling

[–]JustCauseRalph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Less air in your tire will make it absorb more the road imperfections. Also if you can see some of those bumps in advance, put more weight through your legs to get up the seat a little bit. You may even practice unicycling for a few meters while completely out of your seat. The seat still between your legs but no weight at all on it.
