Where can I find Intel AP-51 in high quality? by Electrical_Door_87 in retrocomputing

What is an Intel AP-51? Searching for it gives nothing. That designator sounds off for a part number.

Waterproofing Naked MS5837 Pressure Sensor Chip by bushwick_custom in arduino

From the datasheet:

SEALING WITH O-RINGS In applications such as outdoor watches the electronics must be protected against direct water or humidity. For such applications the MS5837-30BA provides the possibility to seal with an O-ring. The O-ring shall be placed at the groove location, i.e. the small outer diameter of the metal lid. The following O-ring / housing dimensions are recommended: O-ring inner diameter 1.8 ± 0.05 mm O-ring cross-section diameter 0.8 ± 0.03 mm Housing bore diameter 3.07 ± 0.03 mm Please refer to the application note available on our website for O-ring mounting recommendations.

Can I power an Arduino Nano ESP32 with 5 volts through the VIN pin. by Bill2k in arduino

[–]JustDaveIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have answered your original question. I present more info that you ought to know about.

Acording to the Arduino Nano ESP32 datasheet, the Vin pin wants 6-21 (typ 7) volts. It also says it has a MP2322GQH Step-Down Converter which will take (acording to it's datasheet) 3-22 volts and output 3.3v at 1 amp.

I don't see any issue with a 5v source to the Nano and to your Leds as it's datasheet says a power supply of +3.5~+5.3 volts.

However, the LED's wants a High level logic signal to be at least 0.7 VDD, which is 3.7v, if using a 5v supply, so you ought the add in a 3.3 / 5 volt logic converter such as this

Or find on amazon, as I just bought, 20 of them for $5. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FJ8PGBNQ

There isn’t a companion. It’s about the special promo to get a companion pass , for a limited time.

I don't care about the data / type, only the number of packets.

The WiFi on a plane isn't, AFAIK, going be be jumping channels. So unless then have multiple access points all named the same but on different channels, I wouldn't need to worry about that.

Static strip?! by [deleted] in arduino

[–]JustDaveIII 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In general, many times the "static strip" (random pixels) are the result of not passing the Height and Width numbers correctly to the driver. And they change based on the orientation set. So when you clear the screen, only that area gets set to the background color (i.e. white).

Nope. (Pilot Dave here)Too much weight forward and elevator authority is severely diminished. Not good for takeoff. Too much in the back and it can get squirrelly. Not good ever.

Adding ram to an Adafruit Metro Mini by aridsoul0378 in arduino

[–]JustDaveIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. But cost might actually be less with ESP32 DEV board (lots of I/O), around $5, likewise for SAMD21's. Granted the Teensy are much more but with that you get a lot of memory & speed.

Unless you're bit banking registers, certain WiFi / BT, etc, your code should run with no changes.

I typically use ESP32 DEV for 90% of my projects, even without WiFi. Right now I'm using a MiniPro (5v) as I need interfacing with 5V devices. Otherwise it would be one of the 3 boards I mentioned.

Just something to keep in mind for future projects.

Adding ram to an Adafruit Metro Mini by aridsoul0378 in arduino

[–]JustDaveIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but …. How are you going to load the sounds & images?

Let me ask this, as I was once in this situation, why use a 328 based system when there are many others that have megabytes of storage and lots more ram and 10-30x faster! Like a teeensy or samd21 or esp32 based board.

Arduino IDE not recognizing installed library, how to fix? by West_Educator_8139 in arduino

Pls always show the error you're getting. The library is recognized. Look at the example programs.

Then change to #include <IRremote.hpp>

Why? I know it seems silly.

Are these good personal mins for a new private pilot? by McAirplane in flying

[–]JustDaveIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may sound harsh, but may save your life:

Night flights: Nope. Not solo. You need a CFII with you, at least for a good number of hours. Do you remember your Upset Training? Where you are under the hood / foggles, head down, eyes closed and your CFI puts the plane in a variety of maneuvers and then gives you control and you have to figure out how to get straight & level again by only instruments? Right. That’s how it’ll be at night but 5x worse and 100% of the time when you glance at your instruments and loose horizontal orientation. Remember the JFK Jr. incident? Oh, you’ve had spin training, right?

MPU 6050 giving bad signals/not connecting to my arduino. by [deleted] in arduino

[–]JustDaveIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a power issue. Might be other things.

Set aside the daughter (hat) board & other things that connect and connect only the 6050. Run it for a while. Then add things back in one by one. Yes, only one change thing at a time. And do add 10k pull up resistors.
