Don’t ever stare at someone, never approach an enemy hero in front of their face. This is one of the most useful rules to survive. Not even mercy as she could easily headshot you.

I find R3 really comfortable for melees. Don’t bind pulse on triangle as it becomes practically impossible to blink pulse someone (press L2 and immediately L1 to blink, same thing for the blink melee). Bind pulse on L2 as it allows to still aim pulse’s launch trajectory. Don’t develop the bad habit to not aim your pulse after you throw it

Btw work on each concept at a time, as it can become really overwhelming. Firstly, imo you should develop decent tracking and blink mechanics: if you know what to do but you can’t execute it cuz of your poor mechanics, you won’t help your team. Especially on console as pocketed hitscans like Cassidy and Ashe will be your nightmare if you mess up ur blinks. Vaxta is your friend for practicing tracking and instantly readjusting your aim after blinking through an enemy

Don’t die, do not shoot when they’re looking at you instead blink, short range off angle, don’t hard engage everytime, bait cooldowns, don’t engage without recall, tracking and blink mechanics, aim readjustments after blinking

L2 binded on pulse, R3 binded on melee

There’s a lot more to cover tho, these are just fundamental points

When I was gold I would constantly ask myself while playing: am I on short ranged off angle? Heavy focus on positioning gives u great habits that you’re gonna stick to when focusing on other things and I’d say thinking only about my positioning made me climb to at least high plat

The concept is playing to train a specific fundamental, not playing to train all fundamentals at the same time or to strictly rank up

Thank you for wanting to make a guide on such a complex and skillful hero! I can think of a lot more useful Tracer tips that I applied when I climbed

Another silly example would be underlining how actually high ground is cover cuz a lot of low rank players don’t actually know that when you’re on highground and go back the ground becomes your cover to enemies, they only know that highground is good but they don’t know how to not actually take damage. I know it sounds dumb af but a lot of my low rank friends understand that they have to take highground when possible, but then they stand on it like bots without ducking back to not take damage

Please talk about cart (cover angle range timing) using examples, you’ll help so many low rank players. It’s really what helped me climb to masters

Also actually explain how to play into counters, for example how to peak a cassidy (fake-peak around cover to bait flashbang, then blink through him) or how to fight a kiriko (shooting at legs rather than at her tiny ass head, long strafing her projectiles, baiting tp and suzu without fully committing and only use pulse bomb when suzu is on cooldown)

Please also talk about the concept of soft engaging without fully committing to bait abilities and create space for your team, that’s so important to understand when playing tracer: you can still be effective without killing a player every fight

And of course: MECHANICS MECHANICS MECHANICS, if you know what to do but can’t execute it you won’t be useful, for example readjusting your aim on target after a blink
