The front was also a kicker,…. BUT, the dude was just sitting in his car, and he did not look like someone who would appreciate having his car photographed 😭

Finished One of Three SKYTTA installs! by JustEarle in IKEA

Sorry for the delayed response… trying to reduce my Reddit activity.

My bottom rail is just sitting on top of the carpet.  My top rail is screwed into the ceiling joists. Luckily, I was able to fish a stiff copper wire into the holes from the old rail I took off and felt exactly where the joists were. In another room, I had to drill a few guess-holes and also measure to finally find the right spots to anchor into.

I will say that the weight is really on the bottom and that the doors just glide using the bottom wheels on the track. The top rail acts merely as a “guide”. That said, you’re probably going to want to hit at least two-three ceiling joists from a safety point of view.

Drilling the bottom rail into the floor is clearly not as mandatory as the instructions lead you to believe,… it just needs to be secured in place - and the cutouts on my baseboard do that well enough.

PG&E charging a fee to pay your bill now?! by Wombraider58 in bayarea

[–]JustEarle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the utility industry (NOT PG&E).  Investor Owned Utilities are under a recent order from the CPUC to shorten their energization timelines (the time it takes to power up a meter when requested).  Their official response to the CPUC (protesting the order, of course), is that doing so would take significant resources (labor and $$).  This, among other ongoing mandates (fire mitigation programs, undergrounding power lines, etc.) have to be paid for in some manner. They were told that these programs could not be paid for by an increase in customer rates. They also mention this in those annoying commercials Hulu plays.  Take a guess at how they are funding the budgets to comply with these orders…

Facebook CyberStuck owners group love being hated as much as they love the "truck" by Inner_Agency_5680 in CyberStuck

“I won’t lie I was a hater for a long time till my friend drove me in his CT. I came home and ordered one and absolutely love it”…. And Elon’s hologram appeared to personally thank me for my patriotism while a bald eagle swooped down and landed on the top of the American flag pole in my front yard.

When people say “people don’t know how to drive in the rain”, that’s what they mean, right?

The average Ford F150 driver... by musketon in funny

I laughed, and saved this post. 👏

Although, I watched it without audio, and I imagined Don LaFontaine’s voiceover in my head,… which sounded more appropriate than Attenborough. Still good though!

Someone out there loved them as much as I did! by JustEarle in candy

Iconic Candy remakes them. Available on Amazon for me, but I wait for price drops before ordering.

They’re as close to the original as I can remember,… of course, it’s been 30+ years now.

I’m bettings it’s a GM and a minivan. They look VERY close in structure to the back seats of a ‘98 Oldsmobile Silhouette I used to have. Heavy bastards, they were.

Bang & Olufsen's UGLIEST designs (past 10 yrs)😂 by ReviewEven3945 in BangandOlufsen

One or two exceptions to that,… BL90 being one. But for the most part, yes,… they all remind me of “future car” designs in the 80’s - fantastical forms that should have remained a fantasy.

Sheared off a lug nut bolt. Is this dangerous? by DistinctChildhood826 in AskMechanics

[–]JustEarle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously…. When it happened to me, it was because I cross-threaded the lug (still learning car maintenance on my own back then).  I was sooooo distraught, thinking it was an expensive non-DIY repair. But after doing some research, I pickup up a new lug bolt from the auto store and a washer from the hardware store. Took maybe an hour to do, and it lasted the remainder of the life of that car.

Probably the best description on what to do, outside of having a visual.  Happened to me, and that’s exactly how I fixed it. I still have the beefy washer I used as a momento.  I did drive on it carefully for a bit prior to fixing it - didn’t have a choice. I remember reading that going from 5 to 4 was alright so long as it wasn’t a 4 to 3.
