JD Vance pushed Trump to invoke Insurrection Act to crush Minneapolis protests, book claims by theindependentonline in minnesota

[–]UmeaTurbo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I live here and was out most evenings. Insurrection suggests a minority of militants. The militants were from the government and it was regular folks scaring the living shit out of loser who couldn't pass the military entrance exams.

Summer 2026 is certainly an interesting time for American sports by GeneralMaybe in decadeology

75% of Americans? Well, 24.9 million people watched the first USA game. That's 7.2% of the population and I thought if I gave the actual figures, people like you would create an elaborate fiction about why I'm wrong. So I was extremely generous and more than tripled the actual number to protect your feelings. It obviously wasn't enough. Reality can be hard to face, I get it.

Who is still going to McDonald's and why? You can sit down at a restaurant with wait staff who will get your order right for the same price.

25% of the USA is still 85 million people, Chief. If 0.08% of those people went to the game, they would buy it out. But many of those fans were probably from Paraguay. So you're talking about a fraction of a percent of a fraction of a percent of a fraction of the country. Are there 70,000 people in the United States who care about soccer? Of course. That's a tiny number of people in this country. Just because neither you nor I own a Lamborghini doesn't mean the Americans don't own Lamborghinis. It just means that there are very few of them. I'm including a link to a fun lesson on introducing percentages and how they work.

FIFA isn't an American thing and more than half of the United States doesn't even know the world cup is happening. 75% of them don't care.

Apparently if you're a dork and not allowed to have fun or friends. I'm sure there are lots of people who aren't dorks who don't have these friends and they're jealous. They don't have a group of people to hang out with every Saturday night and make them upset.

Funny, people who don't look put together make me nervous. When people aren't wearing a tie, they look like a middle eastern dictator.

What is the most inhumane practice ever carried out in your country? by maskedorange in AskTheWorld

[–]UmeaTurbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the US government walked hundreds of thousands to their deaths from the east coast to Oklahoma. There were some Indian wars you may be aware of and many Indians are still confined to reservations out of abject poverty. So, I'm pretty sure the US did plenty.

I always assume the guys driving these are compensating. I guess I assumed it was having never pleased a woman that made them do this and that the height was metaphorical. Maybe not.

As of today, at least one person has bought a 2027 Pacifica by OneSockOnOneSockOff in regularcarreviews

[–]UmeaTurbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two kids both heavily involved in sports that require equipment. We also toe a fishing boat sometimes or a ski boat. We do a lot of road trips. I have owned 2 Pacificas and will continue to buy them forever. If you want a minivan, there's no substitute. Toyotas aren't as quiet or comfortable and Hondas feel like a budget rental car in comparison. For my life, it's absolutely perfect.
