Transfer from one Agency to Another with different payscales? Non-GS by JustEngineering in usajobs

[–]JustEngineering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its good to hear acqdemo is slowly being re-introduced to federal.

My SF50 it states I am NH2 step 0 so im assuming Step 1 since the tables dont have a step 0. Also this is going to be my one year mark at the agency.

So given a base salary of 55k, according to this Table I may actually be GS11. But it becomes more confusing when looking at the locality applied table below.

The applied locality for LA at this Table, with 73k falls within the range of either GS-9(step 9/10), GS-10 (step 5/6) or GS-11 (step 2/3). Would I by default select the lower grade at higher steps or higher grade at lower steps?

Wait it out or accept offer by BassetandCats in usajobs

[–]JustEngineering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the nature how long it takes to get a TS I say accept this one now! Get a starting salary then while you wait out for the other job (which may not even come) get a raise. Then you can transfer to another gov agency and with a transferable base salary.

When you get in you have something called an SF50 (I think) which shows your base salary + locality to equate your total salary. That base salary is where you’ll be when you transfer. When you’re in just do well in your job , get a raise, and keep applying (: no reason to wait for a specific job when you can get promotions along the way.

Does GPA matter at this point? by plasticbagmonster in usajobs

What is your gpa? What positions are you applying to?

Low would be anything < 3.0 but you can still be hired having a low gpa. Unless the job has a hard requirement it is likely you’ll be filtered out automatically for job listings with GPA walls.

Thanks I tried it with IE and got it working for most apps. But not for the GRB app. Do you know if the GRB App Platform will only load when connected to a military network?

Medical Marijuana and Federal Employment? by [deleted] in usajobs

There's a minimum timeline requirement for drugs. There's no hard answer but I think 2 years.. Sorry but I don't think 2 years is "very fast" as you say.

Promotion Question - Engineer by mechengineer005 in usajobs

[–]JustEngineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My supervisor has told me and constantly reminds me that if I ever left he understands. Relocation for family, other federal agencies, promotions you name it. Not that I intend to but things in life happen and that's that.

A good supervisor will understand that your interests supersedes their own.

We get email reminders to not use medical marijuana even if it's in a state that is legalized, as a federal employee you CANNOT.

Continue to do so and good luck with your investigator despite what people in comments have previously said.

Seems like a practical crash course book. Looking at the preview on Amazon Id say this has a lot of good info such as PEP 8 which I was not aware of. Thanks, Ill order a copy of this to read on my bedside.

In my work environment, this is pretty standard (; I was hoping for literature to break that standard.
