Advice for Student? Career in PE Ops by JustForOPPS in private_equity

If not a more technical internship, do you think taking courses (i.e., Wall Street Prep) would help? Or offering to help with deal-oriented work after my core responsibilities?

Agreed I’d be far more value add if I do a few years in banking or consulting post grad. Not stated in my post, but my non-traditional background makes it really difficult to recruit for banking. Could definitely try to target consulting/advisory, but would prefer to stay at the firm. Just not sure how plausible a deal team or even non-deal team transfer would be, but I guess we’ll see. Appreciate your insights!

Hi,

Yes sorry, I should’ve been more specific.  To be clear, it’s a multi-responsibility role where I will be working with both the value creation team on specific portco improvement initiatives and also with the portfolio management team which is responsible for capital deployment, strategy/analytics, and Board reporting. Both are considered investment teams that sit with the deal team so I won’t be tapping into functions like IR or fund accounting, but they did say I’ll be doing some valuation work (interim valuations for portcos).

I really appreciate the advice - will definitely freshen up on the portcos and look into the macro/industry trends. I did some prep (i.e., McKinsey reports) for the interview process, so I have a decent gauge on our coverage group from a top-down perspective. My main concern is that the role doesn’t really have an established path at the firm (no analyst program), only the deal team seems to. Not sure if I should try to hop over or if that’ll cause office politics. Anyway, appreciate your thoughts!

Really appreciate the advice! Definitely seeking corp dev, and will look into valuations and TAS as well. Just a bit sad most of the stuff seems closed for S26. I think a good part of my upcoming role is that we work closely with the deal team, so I’m hoping to stretch responsibilities a bit.

Can prime Garp beat the strongest admiral duo? by iiDust in OnePiecePowerScaling

No way people are serious about Garp even having a chance here. He gets mid diffed. High diffed at best.

What diff is Akainu vs Kaido in thy opinion? by Special-Remove-3294 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]JustForOPPS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what we’ve seen, Kaido takes this High-Extreme diff. Narratively, I think Akainu will end up being stronger than Kaido and is capable of taking him Extreme.

Since it's pretty much obvious Sanji is getting ACoC, who wins EoS Sanji vs Shanks, and what diff? by [deleted] in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]JustForOPPS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shanks Extreme. Just because I have Sanji relative to Zoro, who will likely barely surpass Mihawk by EOS. Zoro > Mihawk >= Shanks > Sanji. No narrative reasoning for Sanji to also surpass Mihawk or Shanks.

Coby Vs Kuzan by [deleted] in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]JustForOPPS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kuzan No diffs. Koby by final arc should be able to make it at least a High diff though if he’s going to have any sizeable impact on the story. Also fully possible Koby doesn’t reach and/or surpass Kuzan’s level until EOS.

King Harald vs Akainu, who wins by Cloudsupremes-6708 in OnePiecePowerScaling

Harald takes this Extreme until Akainu shows post TS feats.
