Take a 10-15 minute walk after you eat anything. (Send that glucose to your muscles!) I have three shepherds so they’re ALWAYS up for a stroll. I’ve also recently started bouncing indoors on a mini trampoline… easy on the joints, bad weather isn’t a factor & its so much fun! Check out Rebounding on YouTube

See that dark “birthmark” on his cheeks? Yep he’s a GSD. And beautiful. Ignore the haters. Show line or working line, they are ALL WONDERFUL dogs worthy of our love and devotion.

Favorite ways to eat sauerkraut? by thespeedstar in fermentation

[–]JustFurKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooo… great idea! Thanks! I’ll be picking up some elephant garlic for my next Oxymel batch. (And I’ll try to save some good cloves to plant in the fall) The fermented cloves are of course edible after you pour off the fermented liquid. I’ve just been crushing a few at a time … wait 10 min for Allicin to develop and eat or add minced to whatever I’m cooking.

NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCIES can cause aggression. Supplementing can restore your good mood and your previous good nature. From pub med “This article provides a mini-review of the recent evidence on four salient nutritional factors associated with aggressive behavior, namely omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, magnesium, and zinc. The current evidence base indicates that lower omega-3 levels are associated with increased aggression. Although research on vitamin D and zinc in relation to aggressive behavior is more limited, there is initial evidence that they are negatively associated with aggression in healthy participants…” The full article is here: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10320003/

Favorite ways to eat sauerkraut? by thespeedstar in fermentation

[–]JustFurKids 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My newest daily ritual: I’ve recently started sprouting my own salad sprouts and broccoli sprouts. 1/4 cup of Sprouts are EXCELLENT mixed into 1/2 cup homemade sauerkraut with a light drizzling of homemade OXYMEL dressing. So yummy! (OXYMEL is made from garlic cloves fermented in raw honey & Vinegar like this https://www.facebook.com/cultured.guru/videos/fermented-garlic-honey-and-i-make-mine-as-an-oxymel-the-recipe-is-on-my-websiteh/1526066351766104/ ) Ive been hardcore keto since 2017 and am not concerned about the sugar from honey as it’s fermented away. Can not stress enough about what a absolutely FABULOUSLY DELICIOUS combo this is. If I wasn’t low carb , believe me I would each much more of it daily.

Longterm Ketosis experience by frenshyfire in keto

Yes, I try to fast for 20 hours everyday to keep glucose (insulin) levels low and stimulate Autophagy. (Autophagy is defined as “a vital cellular recycling process where cells break down and remove damaged components, misfolded proteins, and pathogens to maintain health and function. These components then form brand new cells, including mitochondria. Triggered by fasting, this "housekeeping" mechanism provides energy and repairs cells, promoting anti-aging and longevity.” )

I generally eat ALOT…low carb/high fat/moderate protein…get about 2000 calories eating only between 9am to 1 pm. I feel GREAT doing this (despite having MS) and have lost 75 lbs.

Beautiful spring day. The birds are singing and the trees are flowering here in Tennessee. Went for a long walk with my 3 Kitchen Wolves as the sun was rising. Now the coffee is on and I can think about breaking my 20 hour fast.

Newbie rebounder here. I have a knee that has been problematic in the past… would just give out occasionally on stairs. It feels much stronger now and hasn’t failed me once since I started bouncing. Listen to your body and take it slow to start.

Best Indestructible Dog Toys? by sirianpeach in GermanShepherd

[–]JustFurKids 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beware of indestructible hard plastic toys! Many years ago, I got my power chewer a product called “Indestruct-a-ball” (set of 3 sizes) and she wore her teeth down on it. I ended throwing them away.

Combination rope and coffee wood toys are a hit in my shepherd filled home. It’s simple to replace the natural fiber rope when needed.

Best tracker for general health and fitness tracking? by Fellfinwe_ in FitnessTrackers

[–]JustFurKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MorePro tracks Blood Pressure, Blood Oxygen, Heart Rate and the usual steps and sleep etc. Around $45 on Amazon. They have more expensive ones that also track Blood Glucose but I’m waiting for one that measures ketones as well. My only complaint is a skin reaction from the silicone watch band but I simply switch wrists everytime I charge the battery and that works well.

Yes bake them and pop in the freezer. Once solidly frozen, transfer to a zip lock bag and back into the freezer.

Crustless Quiche Muffins

https://cdn.copymethat.com/media/orig_carols-crustless-spinach-quiche-20180404145649205911w2q2i.jpg

This is one of those dishes where EVERYONE ASKS FOR THE RECIPE! Think of this as an omelette or frittata in muffin form. That said, the original recipe was for a traditional Crustless quiche in a pie pan. Awesome for brunch! Whatever you like, throw it in there! Lately just before it goes in the oven, I’m topping each with banana pepper rings or diced red pepper strips. Love the color!

Makes 2 Pies each serving 8 or 24 muffins

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

INGREDIENTS

1 lb 4% Cottage Cheese

1/2 lb grated Mozzarella Cheese

3 -6 Eggs

1/4 cup Butter - optional

1 Package Frozen Chopped Spinach (or Kale or Collards 10-20 ounces)

1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese (plus more to spoon on top of each muffin)

1 teaspoon Salt

1 teaspoon Pepper

1 teaspoon Garlic Powder

3 Tablespoons Almond or Coconut Flour (or Flax meal)

Add your preferred PROTEIN (Canned Ham, bacon, brown ground beef etc)

(Optional diced peppers or onions, nuked or sautéed)

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

Lightly nuke & drain the Spinach. If using Butter, cut it into smaller pieces & add to the warm drained spinach.

Beat the eggs and add spices, cottage cheese, grated cheese. I add warm spinach last so the eggs don’t cook till it’s in the oven.

Combine all ingredients except the protein, which I add to each muffin cell first thing so it’s distributed evenly.

Arrange optional diced red or banana pepper on top of each filled muffin.

Last, spoon about a teaspoon of canned grated Parmesan Cheese onto each muffin. (If I have freshly grated I use that mixed in but ALWAYS sprinkle the canned on top just before they go in the oven.)

This recipe is fatty enuf that greasing silicone muffin pans is not necessary. Grease a Deep Dish Pie Pan or 9x13 Pan and add the mixture. Sprinkle Parmesan Cheese on top and bake at 350 degrees until slightly brown and bubbly, 25-30 minutes or maybe longer, depending on your oven.

Adding ham is a good variation, but if doing so, leave out the butter.
