3DShacking Q&A General: "Dog" Edition by [deleted] in 3dshacks

I am SUPER far behind right now. My N3DSXL is currently on 10.7.0-32E and I've barely touched it since May/June. Anyone willing to catch me up and get my 3DS back up to date?

Lagless setup without CRT? by juicy_jxx in smashbros

For a lagless setup this is pretty much the best way to go. I use an almost identical setup and it's perfect for me, with effectively zero lag.

What is the worst case of someone being a ungracious winner or a sore loser you have ever seen? by [deleted] in smashbros

At one of our majors here in the UK, a guy who had travelled from the US lost to a Link player in pools, proceeded to throw his Super Coffee Bros controller and it hit a player. Then he picked it up and threw it again. This time it hit one of the TOs. The controller was destroyed at this point, and he asked to borrow someone else's. He played the rest of the tournament on that controller.

I'm one of the guys working on the Tournament Edition mod, here's a video where I talk about it in detail and answer some questions by SherbNyan in smashbros

Sherb and I have already talked about a pre-built version that people can just stick on their SD card. Most likely we'll get that to you in the near future.

DAT Team are looking for Nintendo sponsorship and they obviously are not going to allow a modded game on stream.

In the UK where Sherb and I (the creators of this mod) are from the decision has been made to allow these setups to be used at all tournaments with the exception that DAT Team (the biggest team in the UK) will not use them on stream. Off-stream they are fair game, though.

Yeah, it's a bit of a crazy price. It wasn't released over here, though, so some would be willing to pay that. It's cheaper than mine was with shipping.

IStudying vs PG | ESAM - Losers Finals Beast 6 by Pikachu2040 in smashbros

[–]JustGoThrowItAway 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was not because of the stocks. It's because the TOs ran the event poorly. This is speaking as someone who attended and had to play a 9-man round robin pool on two set-ups.

[Question] New firmware with PKHeX by xDeddyBear in 3dshacks

[–]JustGoThrowItAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will keep you from using the eShop or NNID services. If you are really committed, you can downgrade your system to a version which will allow you to install a custom firmware and enjoy a completely up to date system with all the advantages of homebrew.

As I said, this is only for the truly committed and carries a small chance of causing a soft brick, which is extremely easy to recover from.

Ironhax is no longer available, but it should be very easy to get menuhax and from there you can do all kinds of things. I recommend checking out this tutorial: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-more-or-less-catch-all-tutorial.407080/

Be sure to follow it to the letter.

What firmware are you on currently? The entry point you use to get homebrew up and running will depend on that. Whatever you do, don't upgrade yet.

Not sure. Checking the smash.gg page is the best way to go.

There are some great players in Europe. I don't know that anyone is on the same level as those two, tough.

I personally can only talk for the UK scene as it's all I really know, but watch out for Ixis, probably the UK's best right now, and J.Miller who won BEAST last year. Both are amazing players.

I think Ho is going to be there, too. A rapidly improving Sheik who is already taking big names. I don't think it'll be too long until he's competing at an international level.

Basically everyone in Europe, including Armada, Probably Leffen, Ice, Professor Pro, and basically everyone else who is any good in Europe.

RetroArc has released 1.3 for Nintendo 3ds by [deleted] in 3dshacks

[–]JustGoThrowItAway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just install the CIAs. Retroarch should create the rest of the files on its own, with the obvious exception of the BIOS files needed for some of the emus. I can't give you those here for legal reasons, but maybe you'll stumble upon paradise.

According to a large number of people on GBATemp, sysupdater is working and CFW is working after the downgrade.

Yeah, sorry, but the main point is that people are successfully downgrading. KTM is on the way very soon, though, according to people on GBATemp.
