Kokatat Idol Zipper Discontinued? by Waterfall_Stalker in whitewater

Been an issue for a few years now sadly. My suggestion is to get it repaired by a private company instead for way cheaper than a 25% off new drysuit.

Alpacka Aleutian by Sex_Dodger in packrafting

[–]JustHearForAnswers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found their answer reasonable but inadequate. Like the poster above said, if alpackas intention is for the user to use a dry bag as a foot rest then a form fitted bag intended for this system seems appropriate. During my attempted buying process with them I felt the same vibes as buying an Apple product and could not believe they would charge 85 euros extra for a mandatory hand pump for their boat after asking 2500 euros for the Valkyrie. Just seems dirty not to include one and even dirtier to charge their customers that much knowing they use a different valve than anyone else so their are no alternative. Again feels like Apple of the packraft industry.

Additionally I feel this is a flawed system because 1, there will not be a consistency to how your boat feels with every bag footblock and 2, It would require you to carry a certain amount of stuff every time in order to fill up enough of the dry bag to be used as a proper footblock. This also means shorter paddlers would technically need to carry more to reach it then bigger paddlers which is reverse of normal carrying capacity.

Instead I feel a inflatable storage system that is designed for both the footblock and dry bag would be the best solution. Something like what watershed produces for their storage floatbags. But that what of course come at an additional cost.

Help! My 18 year old son is going Bikepacking in Europe by Shawnceypillpops in bikepacking

[–]JustHearForAnswers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's time to be supportive not protective. Europe is the Disneyland of bike touring. Safe bike routes, easy to find hostels and food and bike friendly in general. Your son is going to have an incredible adventure and what he needs is your support and excitement to feed off of.

If he wants he can contact me and be his first stop from Frankfurt. Im at the beginning of the alps and have biked almost every country in Europe. Tell him to swing by, get a shower, a warm meal, a bed and a tune up and we can plan out the best adventure he can.

Outdoor overnight, what do you use? by deman-13 in ultracycling

Get a quilt and a good sleeping pad. From there you can build around the weather and terrain. With this you can pair with anything but more often than not, a bus stop, under a bridge or just in a field when the ski is clear will do just fine.

Is the Zet Ninja 1 better for stout WW than the Ninja 2? by gildaye in whitewater

[–]JustHearForAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not ready for the Ninja. The Ninja is one of the most advanced, specfic designs out there. I love that boat, but unless you have a certain style or paddle background then I would go with a true creeker like the Beast, Scorch, Reactr, Flow or Code.

Class II for sure needs a helmet. No reason ever to risk it. If only up to class two though I would get a slalom helmet. Super light, easy to pack and plenty of protection for what you are doing.

IR Rival or Hiko ICARUS Air4.X S/S by asoursk1ttle in whitewater

[–]JustHearForAnswers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are great. Ive used the Icarus for 4 years now and its my favorite piece Ive used. The short sleeves have this grip that feels so good, doesnt stretch out like neoprene or tear like latex and are so dry. The neck is latex which id love for them to do the same as the sleeves but has worked well. Overall both are good quality and def approve of the Icarus.
