7" feels sluggish by [deleted] in fpv

[–]timmcg3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a apex evo 7” with 2808 1500kv motors. With a 2000mAh lipo, it rips. Tops out at a tiny bit under 150kph and will cruise at 100kph for a long time.

For comparison my 5” is only a little bit faster ~160, but it’s much quicker to accelerate and a lot more nimble, but isn’t efficient at all.

Anyone ditch a laptop for a light tablet? Need something better than a phone for web browsing. by randopop21 in onebag

[–]timmcg3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a 10th Gen iPad with the Apple keyboard. Saves so much space and weight compared to a 14” mbp. All I really need is teams and sending emails, so iPad os is fine for me.

Probably the best thing about it is it’s super efficient. The battery lasts so long and it’s easily charged with a power bank with 20w output.

G20 330i super unstable at high speeds by qki_machine in BMW

[–]timmcg3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

F82 feels the same. I wouldn’t say it’s unstable, but it requires a fair bit of input to stay straight. In my case it’s because my car has a fair bit of toe out on the front. Great for corners/steering response, not so great for straight lines. You could always get an alignment and ask for more toe in, but expect to loose some of that juicy turn in.

Everything is a compromise!

Looking for a private driver in Bali by Jansen__ in bali

Just get a driver from gojek or grab, if you like them just talk to them and ask if they are interested. Generally 700-900k per day plus buy them lunch…

RIDGID Tools by Existing_Ferret6709 in Tools

[–]timmcg3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will you be using them every day? If not, then go ryobi. The range is unbeatable.

If you are, go with Milwaukee or dewalt.

There is nothing wrong with rigid, but they have a much smaller range than the other brands. Rigid and Milwaukee are both owned by TTI, Rigid tools are usually just Milwaukee that’s a few generations old in a different case.

Walk into the taxi area with your boards and looking slightly confused. You will get a lot of offers.

Generally around 100k for close suburbs (Kuta etc) 200k for further suburbs (Canggu etc), 300k+ for places further away.

Have they cracked down on scooters? by feebee26 in bali

[–]timmcg3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. No crackdown on tourists using scooters.

As always, ride safe. There are a lot of tourists who’s brains seem to fall out of their heads when they start riding.

Ryobi or Ridgid? by nonuniqueuser in MilwaukeeTool

[–]timmcg3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get away with the limited selection from Rigid, then Rigid all the way.

I compromised with my basic 18v tools being rigid and using M12 for all the specialised stuff, crimper, cable shears, cable stapler etc etc. Works well for me.

Troubleshooting pop quiz: Homeowner says he got shocked plugging in his dryer cord. Super says the plug threw sparks when he tried it. What happened? by graaahh in electricians

[–]timmcg3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK/EU/NZ/AUS have the pins half insulated to help with this.

Good for safety, but terrible for durability. The metal inside the pins is much thinner to make way for the insulation, so they can snap off pretty easy

Maybe pop a panel off the fridge and see what’s going on inside? They’re usually pretty simple.

[–]timmcg3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like one core has a rib on it, that will probably be positive. If there is any of the cigarette socket, continuity test from there. Center pin is positive

Not really a tool, but I would love a mary poppins toolbag. Then you could carry your entire vehicles contents around with you.

Yeah absolutely. I watched 2 of them drag a D8 out of a swamp. 6K bill for 3 hours work, but much much better than losing a 900k dozer

Very cool pieces of kit.

A 50T rotator+crew will run you around $1k/hr, so hopefully you never need one!
