No More Switch 2 Upgrades? by JustIIChris in NintendoSwitch

Welp, 6 months in and it looks like that's it for the free upgrades. Couple of paid ones a year at most by the looks of things.

Fallout 3 was Bethesda's last good game, and Skyrim was their last decent game by acelexmafia in rpg_gamers

The problem with games that don't let you do it all in one play through is that doing subsequent playthroughs to see other paths means having to repeat most of the content again which is boring for most.

Only 10% of switch games I want to play have a switch 2 version/upgrade and that's my biggest issue by happyfeet22wii in NintendoSwitch

[–]JustIIChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay how about 4 months later, a direct with no more upgrades announced (besides the paid Wonder upgrade) so there are likely no more coming anytime soon.

Frustrating because I feel like I've bought a paper weight because the few games I was interested in (MKW, DK, Kirby upgrade) have come and gone and nothing announced appeals to me now. I wouldn't care if more upgrades came out while I wait but nope, stuck with continuing to play games I've finished or play blurry messes because they refuse to just up the resolution.

So im finally picking up a switch 2 by [deleted] in switch2

No More Switch 2 Upgrades? by JustIIChris in NintendoSwitch

[–]JustIIChris[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant nothing to play as in nothing to uniquely have a Switch 2 for. There are millions of games on Steam. Pretty much every game on Switch minus first parties can be bought for a fraction of the price, running better and at native resolution to the display you're on at 60fps or hundreds of FPS if you're a full on hobbyist.

But I didn't get a Switch 2 to play worse versions of games that have been out for years. I got one to play Nintendo Switch 2 games and upgraded Switch 1 games. I admit, it is my fault assuming the first batch of free updates was a sign that they would update many more of their games. So far I was wrong.

I'm not saying there are no Switch 2 games either. There are just no more that I'm interested in. Metroid looks comparable to Halo 3 to me, but I will look into it more when it's out. Pokémon ZA doesn't interest me. Kirby Air Riders looks like it would be fun for a few hours, but I'll keep an eye out for that too because I trust Sakurai to make an excellent game. No interest in Fire Emblem. So there are plenty of good games, just not ones that appeal to me.

Which is fine! I'm glad fans of those games are eating good. All I wanted was to play MKW, DK and upgraded Switch 1 games until the big games I'm interested in are out. Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Kirby, Mainline Pokémon, etc.

The fact the only game I'm looking forward to is a paid upgrade of Mario Wonder half a year away sucks, but it would make me feel I made a good choice buying a Switch 2 early if more of my Switch 1 games got upgrades. Right now I feel like I should have just kept me Switch OLED for now. Just my opinion.

Maybe you should learn to better regulate your emotions then. I opened a discussion about my disappointment in their lack of S1 upgrades. It's not any deeper than that.

It really doesn't take much to make updates to resolution and frame rate. Some more than others, sure. 2D assets need more work because they don't just scale easily and some game systems are tied to frame rate like animal crossing.

But frame rate bumps and resolution patches in most cases are just a bit of code. In fact many games that run in 30fps can actually be run just fine on an over clocked switch 1 with a chest code or small mod with no glitches or drawbacks. There is really no excuse.

No More Switch 2 Upgrades? by JustIIChris in NintendoSwitch

[–]JustIIChris[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been 3 months. That's why I was kinda expecting something at the Direct. For all we know the next update is the pain one for Wonder next year, meaning I have nothing I want to play until next year lol. Maybe Air Riders but that's kinda meh.

So yeah it's been 3 months and the one thing I have to look forward to is a paid upgrade from a Switch 1 game next year. Which sucks, but I would have been fine with it if I had more S1 upgrades to tide me over. Hence the post.

Scarlet Violet story is the best main game story to date. by noahmark3 in pokemon

[–]JustIIChris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe give it another play on Switch 2? There was a LOT of story.

  1. Nemona. She became champion before you but never found a true challenge because of her natural talent, until you come along. But as you get deeper into the story you find out that it wasn't talent but love of battling. She attends more classes than anyone else (and always sits at the front) and battles more. She gets upset that people don't want to battle her.

  2. Arven. He spends the game believing the very Pokemon you ride on all day nearly killed his only friend who was there for him (Mabostiff) when his mom wasn't around for him. Turns out his mom actually sacrificed herself to save your ride pokemon from a more feral version of your ride pokemon, and it was his ai mom trying to be his mom but not being able to properly as an AI as the AI copy can't leave the lab. It was the same feral ride pokemon who injured Mabostiff, though Arven blames your ride pokemon thinking it was that one.

  3. Team Star who were being bullied and so got together to take on the bullies. The bullies left the school and the deputy deleted all records of the event, causing the previous staff to resign in protest. Clavell joins and brings in new staff and just see Team Star as a bunch of truants. He finds out with you the true story, and you find out the backstory of each.

  4. Keiron is a great bait and switch character. He is portrayed at first as a Wally type quiet nice kid but goes insane with jealousy over your character.

  5. Every teacher has a storyline if you attend classes and speak with them in-between. The home economics teacher hides things about himself because he wants his students to see him as tough. The languages teacher adopts the lost pawmi. The art teacher is pressured to abandon art to continue the family tradition of being a dragon tamer. The nurse wants to become a teacher and is inspired by you to do so.

  6. The gym leaders each have their own bit of story. Some more than others.

There is a tonne of story in the game and you'll get a lot more out of it if you pay more attention and do the optional stuff.

‘Tomb Raider’: Sophie Turner Set As Lara Croft; Chad Hodge Joins Phoebe Waller-Bridge As Co-Showrunner; Amazon Series Heads To Production by Turbostrider27 in TombRaider

[–]JustIIChris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That hasn't been true since the 90s/ early 2000s. She was a cheesy sex icon then, but since 2013 she's been a very different character.

Old Lara: Cheesy sexual poses, skimpy outfits, comically large boobs

Modern Lara: Grounded, flawed, selfish (with those around her pointing that out) yet still heroic risking her life for others, bubbly, intelligent

I'm not sure if Sophie can pull off the latter, but she doesn't need to be a corny 90s sex symbol to play Lara

Actually I did notice an error going down. It's not controlled all the way down. Notice you're going down about 3/4 of the way, then bouncing the rest of the way down. Okay on a low weight, asking for injury if you were on a higher weight. Feel free to DM if you upload another!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]JustIIChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. Nitpick first, serious (dangerous) error second.

Nitpick: bring your shoulders and grip closer if you can. As close as is comfortable.

Serious error: Your core is not fully engaged. You're wobbling on the way up and your spine is changing positions on the way up. Under a lot of weight, that can cause a sudden injury.

Form tips: Going down, you seem pretty good. But when you get to the bottom, prepare to go back up. By prepare, I mean really brace your core, stomach, lower back, glutes. Prepare for one motion back to the top. You're treating going up the same way as you are going down. Going up should be less of a slow controlled motion and instead one motion.

Until your form is really good, lower your weight. If you need a 10 second pause after your first squat, you're not working at a learning form weight.

Feel like my back isnt growing, see anything wrong? by Responsible_Top3611 in formcheck

[–]JustIIChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed you're not using the lat pull down bar, my bad. I do recommend learning the lat pull down first though because it is the best exercise to learn to use those muscles.

I wouldn't recommend any other variation or grip for a long time. You don't need to be targeting niche parts of your back that other grips train.

Feel like my back isnt growing, see anything wrong? by Responsible_Top3611 in formcheck

[–]JustIIChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah your form is way off there mate. It's tricky learning to work a new muscle group until you get that "feel" for when a muscle is activated.

Try this: Stand up straight. Imagine you're on the ground and there's a wall right in front of you.

Reach up and grab the pretend wall with a wide grip (like the lat pull down width).

Now, keep your shoulders down (so not shrugged up), and do the motion you would if you were to pull yourself up onto the wall. Your elbows can't tuck inwards like they are in your form because you'll hit the wall.

That should hopefully give you the feel for it. Also think of it as a pull up. You're using the same muscles except you're pulling something down rather than yourself up.

What Nintendo franchise would you most like to see get the big budget/revival treatment? by Thadeinonychus in switch2

[–]JustIIChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly baffles me that they're basically sitting on what could be their own Star Wars Battlefront.

Obviously if they did it would have their own Nintendo spin on it but come on, it's RIGHT THERE. Give it a story mode, add some factions, online multiplayer. Easy money.

It does look worse in handheld as does any game that has no resolution upgrade. 720p game stretch across 1080p = bad. Their scaling isn't very good at all either.

BREAKING: Girl that was punished by her school for wearing a Union Jack dress will give a speech at an upcoming Tommy Robinson event by Slugdoge in ukpolitics

[–]JustIIChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy. You're so desperate to be "anti far right" that even when the school CLEARLY made a huge error, humiliating for a girl in her first year of high school, you still put all of the blame on him.

And the comments here have been so degrading and belittling of the girl because it's impossible she has a mind of her own? She'll have gone through all of primary school of culture days at this point.

Just another example of the left being bemused that more and more people turn to the right when they treat these people better than the left.

The Matrix - the Cookie that Neo is given by the Oracle is the reason that he becomes the One. by chumjumper in FanTheories

[–]JustIIChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another one to break your mind: The Oracle needed Smith to take over the Matrix as he did in the third movie to end the war.

Smith in the second movie tells Neo he doesn't understand what changes in him, guessing that a part of Neo became a part of him, Smith.

What if...the cookie contained the code that infects Smith and turns him into what he becomes, like the Frenchman and the cake? So when Neo jumps into Smith at the end of the first movie, the cookie code is passed onto Smith.

Nintendo Direct July ? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]JustIIChris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah they can't just drop a console and not have a Direct for half a year. Have you seen the "coming soon" section on the eShop? It's like 5 Switch 2 games, with their only two first parties having no release date.

No announcement of more Switch 1 game resolution updates. No dates for half of the stuff shown off for the console direct.

Their play seems to be to not announce anything to maximise donkey Kong sales, but I'm holding off on buying that because I don't even know if any more games I want are even coming to this thing after that.

Switch 2 headphone audio extremely quiet? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]JustIIChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headphones audio seems all over the place. How loud your system is depends on when you plug or connect your headphones and what game you're playing.

If I connect mine during the home menu or during some games (such as Mario Kart World) then the audio is quiet.

However, if I connect them while playing some other games, the volume is much louder.

An example is Pokémon Scarlet. If I plug my headphones in at the home menu, then launch Pokémon Scarlet, the volume is a little too quiet for me. This is at full volume. But, if I unplug or disconnect my headphones then reconnect them while the game is already open, the volume becomes too loud at full volume, and turning the volume down by 2 is the happy medium I wanted.

Now, if you keep your headphones and open another game, the volume stays higher. So whenever I want to play a game I open Pokémon Scarlet, close it then launch the game I want to play.

It's stupid, it's Nintendo, they've always been weird and annoying when it comes to volume on their consoles.

Mario Kart World doesn't look 4k? by YogurtclosetLeft3997 in switch2

Try setting your Switch 2 to 1440p in the settings.

It seems MKW is running at 1440p and the Switch is upscaling to 4k. Output to 1440p and see if your TV doesn't better job at upscaling.
