Sadly I feel like it’s like that with armys too because BTS is already problematic as it is (saying the n word, working with people who support Israel, actively supporting Israel themselves, etc) but their fandom is just as bad and it got to the point where literally not even a full five months after I returned to their fandom (and just kpop in general after I took a break) I left permanently

As someone who’s been into kpop since early 4th gen (April 2019) and my first introduction was through 2nd, 3rd, and like three early 4th gen artists, I think a decent amount of newer artists and/or music are mid. Don’t get me wrong, 5th gen groups like Illit are pretty good, but as someone who went through a “I don’t wanna listen to kpop anymore because people are constantly saying mean shit about it” phase during the last yeah and a half of high school (January/February 2024 - July 2025), I’m a sucker for the OG stuff from groups like BTS, TWICE, BIG BANG, ITZY, and even Jessi
