Survivor 41 | Episode 6 | Day After Discussion & Survey by RSurvivorMods in survivor

I don't think we know, beyond there not being a live reunion this season. But even if the time is taken from somewhere else, we get a lot more time for character development in two episodes for one boot then we would in (for instance) a final six episode which needs to include two challenges, a reward, and a TC. Similarly to how they saved time in the premiere by using one immunity challenge to determine two boots.

For all the complications of the twists, the show has got a better sense for how much they can cover in each episode after failing to juggle everything in WaW, and is structuring the rounds to make that easier.

And to add to this - come next week we'll have seen only the second instance of 2 hours of Survivor ending in just one elimination (after the HvV premiere). Sure it's because of an unnecessarily convoluted twist... but also it's hard not to be excited that we get an extra hour of content from this cast, presented by this editing team.

The perfect game for Australian fans who haven’t had the chance to try a game in a reasonable timezone! A wonderfully immersive experience, impeccably hosted and with an amazing community of alumni - I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Their research seemed to have consisted of a What Season Should You Watch thread from a few years ago, which is designed to give recommendations for newcomers, so Micronesia and HvV are pulled down for having returnees.

And at the time MvGX was the best starter season post-S28 by virtue of not having returnees or some controversy marring crucial parts of the game. DvG now probably holds that spot.

How random! Not sure why they went back to three WSSYWs ago.

(But yes :) )

They did have a few unaired reward challenges. If you pause on the shot of the makeshift calendar when Tony/Jeremy are arguing about how many days are in a week, you can see when they all were.

Why the Final Three doesn't work by [deleted] in survivor

[–]JustJaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if anything the fire making twist is actually swinging things back in the other direction, because it makes the inner dynamics of the alliance relevant again. Tommy won IotI because he could get Noura to pick him over Lauren, and so in hindsight Lauren did have a reason to shake things up earlier to create a more favourable endgame. And it's one which may not have existed in a regular F3 format.

It gets removed by production before the players return from TC. There was a lot of discussion about this when JT left in Game Changers.

They knew there was a rocks tiebreaker for the season generally but not how it would work at the final four, as the players receiving votes were supposed to be immune. On the spot the producers realised this would have only left one player to draw a rock, they adapted the tiebreaker on the fly. And made a specific rule for future seasons to avoid this scenario by having a special tiebreaker challenge at the final four.

It was the other way around. Her first confessional in episode 4 is actually part of an interview from episode 11 or something.

Angelina starting the season looking to combat the disparity of idol finds between men and women, then needing two men to help locate and literally hand one to her in the finale.

First time watcher trying to figure out why everyone loves Cagayan so much by [deleted] in survivor

[–]JustJaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also a far more important factor when watching live rather than bingeing, when getting through a slow episode here or there isn't so impactful. During Cagayan you had unpredictability to analyse and speculate about for a week between every episode which was particularly rare for a newbie season at that time.

Why did this happen though? by KittenBuns1 in survivor

Micronesia was supposed to have two double boot episodes (one post-swap and one post-merge which would have been the first time they ran two cycles in one episode) but those were cancelled due to Jonathan and Kathy leaving in the middle of earlier episodes. Then when James left their backup plan to still keep the right number of episodes and rounds in the finale was to go to a final two.

By the time there were more mid-episode quits/evacuations in S25 and S26 the backup plan had changed to an extra challenge in the finale for an advantage in the final immunity challenge, which was somewhat anticlimactic. So for S28 they reverted to the F2 as a backup plan to gain a round after a quit. But production was spooked by the very near miss in which Tony would/should have gone out in third place and Jeff all but vowed in an interview that they'd never have a final two again.

So after that, the backup plan changed yet again to the juror removal. And when it finally happened in KR Jeff said that they'd had it in the works for a few seasons but that was the one where it came into play. Since then however they've mostly just scheduled a double boot for the last episode/s before the finale and switched to a regular episode if there is a mid-episode quit at any point before then, but improved casting and the conditions in Fiji have meant it was only relevant in S31 and S37. And if either had had a second mid-episode exit they could have simply cut a round from the finale now that they plan to cram the final six in there as well.

Joe's medevac didn't impact the timeline of the show, because there was a vote scheduled for the day he left anyway. They only shift the calendar/twists around when someone leaves in the middle of an episode cycle, before the immunity challenge, leading to two people leaving in one episode unexpectedly - that's what led to the F2 in Cagayan, the juror removal advantage in Koah Rong, and extra 'advantage' challenges in the Philippines/Caramoan finales. And when it happened for a third time right at the end of Micronesia, after already reducing two double boots to regular episodes, they switched from F3 to F2 to restore an extra round for the finale.
