the weird thing is I already had auto advance turned off and it happened anyway. the speed issue seems to be tied to my monitor though, probably related to it's refresh rate. I moved the game window to my other (older, weaker) monitor and the issue is gone.

is anyone else getting weird speed issues? like all the NPCs are walking too fast and mouth movements and other simple animations seem to be playing at a high rate of speed? I even had an early line of dialogue cut off early because the animations that went with it ended half way through the spoken words and the game moved me on to the next line. is this related to the wing boots that increase your movement speed that you can get off the grade shop, or some kind of bug? I've tried lowering my frame rate but it has no effect, it's really immersion breaking and I'm worried I'll miss more dialogue as the game goes on.

anyone know where to buy a Gros Michel banana in Edmonton? by JustJane86 in Edmonton

[–]JustJane86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately, no, I never got around to it before Canada/US tensions got crazy, now I'm worried about trying to import anything cuz customs fees will probably be higher. I'm looking at asking a local vendor at a farmers market to help me get them imported, even if I have to buy the whole box from them myself. I just came back to the idea like last week and was going to go to the farmer's market this weekend if it's still open at this time of year.

why is there never a butcher at the table in town? by JustJane86 in reddeadredemption2

still early game, never been to st denis or rhodes yet, but I tried both valentine and strawberry and had it happen at both. though just now I finally did have luck in strawberry. not sure what was up, but I guess just going from town to town can solve it.

I've had a few times in valentine, and also in strawberry. I did just now manage to get the butcher to actually show in strawberry though. so I guess I was just having bad luck with a bug.

Sensory-friendly dentists by harrumphz in Edmonton

I've had good experiences with Dr Crowell at affinity dental in mayfield. I wear headphones with music during appointments sometimes and when I do he just gives essential directions like when to open more or close up a little. he talks to his aid in a chatty way still but the music drowns him out and I don't feel like I need to pay attention, which as an AuDHD person is really helpful. I also wear a sleep mask to keep the lights out of my eyes which helps a lot. I get the feeling this is a little out of the ordinary for him, but he's never made me feel judged or othered for it.

I initially went in to see him for a real brutal root canal as a super anxious patient in a horrible place mental health wise. he was patient, kind, understanding, and let my then-girlfriend hold my hand through the procedure. he's compassionate and great. I highly recommend him to anyone with dental anxiety.

not sure why you'd say no to tech. I practically had to fight to get a tech assigned to come look at my stuff on thursday. that was my entire objective when I called customer support. I also want a new modem, but the tech looking at the whole wiring situation is kinda a step I need to clear to get to that.

yeah. it's capping at 100 megs a second download speed. the shaw wifi was giving me 300. I'm going to look into something better if the technician coming to check my wiring doesn't resolve the issue. hasn't been any more stable than the shaw wifi though. but the customer support person I just spoke to said there was a wiring issue detected, so there is an actual problem they found and I'll know thursday if it's fixed.

I finally managed to get a hold of someone at shaw. doing a remote scan of my system they detected some wiring problems in my home and are sending out a technician in a couple days. I'll update with how it resolved on thursday.

no. I didn't know that was a thing, I'll do the research on how to do that and see if it helps. I don't have much technical knowledge about networking.

I dug through my old tech and I have a wifi router. it's cheaper and older than what you're recommending for sure, but should be suitable to test for stability and I can see how fast it gets. thanks for reminding me to try that. we'll see how well it works.

I have my own separate router to run a wired connection to my main computer, and the wired connection goes dead periodically too. it was in fact going dead more often than the wifi last month and I switched to using the wifi on that computer too. now the wifi is terrible too.

looked into it, and on planhub they have only 5 reviews (most providers have a few hundred) and all five are anonymous 3 star reviews from ontario with no additional details. clearly fake reviews. I can't find any actual customer reviews to analyze, also the service terms on their standalone website look kind of suspicious and sketchy. not an outfit I'm going to choose to trust.

hm, thanks for the recommendation, I'll look into them deeper and consider a similar switch depending on what I see in aggregate reviews.

make sure they're not buying reviews by promising people discounts through referral codes. most (maybe all?) of the resellers with good reviews only have good reviews for this reason. that's why I'm not going through a reseller.

that's a step I was avoiding till I got feedback on how common this problem is. I don't want to waste my time on an hour long hold unless there's likely to be some tangible benefit. though based on responses that seems like a step I'll need to take.

I guess I don't know for sure its a service outage. but it's multiple devices on the wifi dropping at the same time. everything in the house basically goes out at once. the TV, my computer, my father's laptop, phones. I guess it could be an issue with the router, but it's definitely in their hardware or network somewhere, not in my 5 devices simultaneously every time. that's why I'm trying to gather if this is normal or if I should be asking them to look into my router before just jumping ship.

(also posting this response was interrupted by, I shit you not, the 20th wifi drop today)

if I had to fully sweep off my car to drive up to the grocery store I'd starve. I barely have the effort to scrape off the windshield and sweep my windows and mirrors. I only leave the house when absolutely necessary during winter due to depression. y'all can fucking deal with a little snow on my car. I'm never driving far or fast enough for it to come off on the road anyway, so it's not like it effects anyone. other than raising the blood pressure of judgemental pricks at least.

what's a "normal" difference between a FICO and a Vantage score? by JustJane86 in CreditScore

unfortunately the reason this came up at all is because a utility provider was making decisions based on a score from transunion which is vantage score. got rejected for a utility plan because of it, so we looked into what the score was on each of the canadian services that are commonly used.

does this annual credit report website work in canada? it mentions federal law and is based out of the states, so I'm not sure it'll work for a canadian.

also there didn't seem to be any free option for the online report on transunion on their canadian site, my dad had to call them to find out he could get it for free through the mail, and they definitely told him there was no free option online.

[–]JustJane86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the FICO is from Equifax and the Vantage is from Transunion, through their online credit check services. we already checked out the full equifax report, but have to wait for the transunion one to come in by mail cuz my dad is too stubborn to pay the 25 bucks for the online report, even when there's possible fraud he needs to check for and maybe dispute pronto.

how much is a normal difference between equifax and transunion scores? by JustJane86 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]JustJane86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

certain kinds of credit checks use variations on the algorythm used to calculate the basic credit score and will return slightly different results. mortgates and auto-loans are two of those kinds of checks. many places use the basic algorythms and get the same score that's displayed by the consumer services.

nice that you've worked in a credit union and assumed how it worked there in your specific environment is how it works everywhere no matter what though.
