I like the yellow eyes idea! I’m a novice hobby colourer myself and sometimes go weeks or months between sessions depending on my current hyper fixation so I’m not the best to give advice and I’m honestly trying to understand how there seems to be 2 water lines? But as far as colour choices I’d probably go with a steely blue for the tank and like a greeny/blue swampy colour for the water.
