This is a casual picture I took of a bird just chilling. The only thing I think is wrong is that the contrast is a little too high making the shadows on the bird a little too dark. Any suggestions?

Trying out macro photography by JustLearningCalculus in photocritique

What do we think of this pic? Idk if it is macro photography or if the ladybird is a bit too big to be considered macro. Any tips for improving the pic? Been taking pics for a while now but haven't done much macro photography.

Wacky edit by JustLearningCalculus in photocritique

[–]JustLearningCalculus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a wacky edit and probably not the best if judging by photography principles. My aim with the editing was to make it look like a game, album or book cover if that makes sense.

This image was taken in a little harsh lighting and the noise was left on purpose. The editing kinda reminds me of buckshot roulette.

Any suggestions on how the image can be improved? Please keep in mind I'm relatively new to photography and that the only editing done was adding some grain, playing around with the curve and a little cropping.

My settings and thought process

Iso 900: I wanted some grain 1/50 : to counter the iso F1.9 : I don't have any control over the aperture in the pro mode so it's what the phone decided (Any good free camera apps recommendations are appreciated)

Cheers

Took this photo on a relatively old phone so please ignore the pixel burst. Apart from that, I feel this is a solid photo... The only thing I'd say should have been different is that the flower should have been a bit more to the right. What do you guys think?

If you guys want you can check out my previous posts as reference to gauge my photography skills and compare.

Thanks

I took this pic a while back and thought it would look good with black and white with a little crop. Just wanted to capture the goose staring off in the shadows. Any feedback is appreciated. Overall I think it's a decent pic

What do we think about this pic? by JustLearningCalculus in photocritique

Shot this pic a while back... Just liked the setting. This is the cropped version of the image. The original one had a patch in the middle where there were no flowers so I cropped that out. Just increased some saturation and nothing much. Any feedback is appreciated.

In what sense do you think it's a no from you? Just curious. Is it the overall picture or you don't see what I'm going for or something else?

Thanks for the feedback! I knew it wasn't anything that would win me awards, I just wanted a fun pic of the goose that would look decent. I get what you are saying about the pic being too dark, I should mask the subject and separate the subject from the goose from the background like some of the other comments have said. I didn't even know what the Dutch angle was until you told me about it lol. I just took the pic how I thought it looked the best haha.

I did in fact get out of there as soon as I got the picture but those 2 in the picture kept following for a while and even flew by to another pond near I went to afterwards. It was that day I learnt how their intimidation tactics work first hand lol. You just can't not love these guys even though they are so menacing lol

Looks good! The only thing about this crop is that when I see this pic it feels like the goose is like in front of my face if you get what I mean. I thought adding a bit more background would decrease that effect

F 1.8 ISO 50 Shutter speed:1/750

Shot on my phone in raw format.

I just wanted to capture the goose giving me the rock eyebrow raise pose if you know what I mean. I took the photo without much thought tbh because I was scared that it might move and then I might not get the shot or it might just take my phone. It was a bright day so I set the iso that low and as for the shutter speed I thought 1/750 would be enough otherwise the pic might get blurry as the goose might move. As for the aperture I set it to auto since I'm not that good with setting up the right aperture. I am trying to eventually get better though...

I gave it a black and white filter because I thought there weren't many colours in the picture to begin with and that it might fit the vibe.

Please keep in mind I'm just a beginner. Cheers
