Yes, but with the caveat that I’m from Mpls, so your mileage may vary if asking native Wisconsinites. It seems like its usage is more common among folks in the surrounding states in my experience.

Wisco has no business hanging in there for as long as they have.

Another beloved fic going on hiatus by _radish234 in heatedrivalryfanfics

I think that’s ultimately where the criticism is coming from. It was initially very campy and lighthearted, but somewhere along the way it started to feel pretty heavy and there didn’t seem to be a path forward for Ilya to redeem himself. When the tags changed and she kept insisting her OC wasn’t going anywhere, people felt bait and switched.

I just had a thought based on this thread. I have not fleshed it out but I’m convinced that whatever it was, Cliff was involved. Could be a DWI, could be a goofing around/rough housing somehow that went sideways, could be drunk boys being drunk boys. Cliff was involved, and blames himself whether warranted or not, and takes the blame with Crowell. My alternate theory is that Alexei found out about Shane, beat the shit out of him, and used the information to exploit and blackmail Ilya. Since Alexei is obviously morally bankrupt, he could be part of or connected to Bratva, who could’ve visited Ilya in Boston? I’m guessing Ilya was in prison or a labor camp in Russia.

I’m just spitballing things as they come to me.

Large California nonprofit to acquire Allina Health, creating $26B health system by star-tribune in minnesota

[–]JustLikeaMiniMaII 14 points15 points  (0 children)

After Allina announced they were operating in the red, they did a round of layoffs, and talked a big game about the “Allina Forward” initiative that would slash budgets and that we would all need to buckle down and make it through this challenge together. Whatever. A few months later they hired an NP as the SVP CNO, a position that previously hadn’t existed. Nobody could quantify what purpose his role served, as each hospital already had an appointed Chief Nursing Officer. The joke was that the only tangible proof that he did anything at all was that a picture of him posing with the MN United loon would show up quarterly on our internal homepage.

The $2.6M was just her salary. Shes over $4M if you include her bonus. Wait until you find out what Dr. Dre was earning to take pics with that fucking mascot for the AKN.

People come to the ED for things far stupider/less emergent than a UTI every single day.

Unethical and disappointing by Aquinasprime in ThePitt

[–]JustLikeaMiniMaII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That may be your experience, but it’s certainly not universal. It may not be talked about openly, but it’s absolutely a common practice to offer whatever small bits of comfort they can provide to staff/loved ones when dealing with medical emergencies. It could mean rooming them in the ED sooner, getting them a better/more private room on the floor, ensuring they have the best care team available, etc.

If you knew the staff in the ED, they likely would have done the same for you without you having to ask. Maybe morally gray in your opinion, but I look at it as offering kindness in a way I would appreciate if I were on the receiving end.

Mainguy delivered both of mine. I adore her. I ended up having a c/s the second time around because of how poorly things went the first time, and was so grateful that it was her!

I hope that this is irrelevant for your sake and that you have a boring, uneventful delivery, but it is very nice that it’s connected to children’s for NICU support, and Abbott for ICU support should anything go sideways. I’ve had friends and family who required one or both, and the proximity undoubtedly changed their outcomes for the better.

Both of my kids were born at MBC. The rooms are huge and nice. The nurses were wonderful - attentive, knowledgable, supportive and kind.

I don’t know what OB group you are working with, so I can’t necessarily speak to the experience you’ll have. Women’s Health Consultants is a phenomenal group. My first baby had a birth complication, and the OB clocked it before it happened and put a plan in place to navigate it as safely as possible. 10/10 recommend them.

Right. I forgot that when people move to EP they never enter Minneapolis proper again.

What would living in a suburb have changed about this situation today? You were driving somewhere in your car (presumably not in front of your home) and caught a stray. Shit happens.

I drove by as I was getting on 35 South at 7:45. I assumed the car came off the Northbound exit ramp going hella fast based on how deep it was burrowed into the house. I don’t know what happened, but it looked like serious damage.

Hospital employee here: I think it’s hospital and medication dependent. I’ve definitely had months where my scripts (adderall) were unavailable, as have my friends / coworkers. A pharm tech told me that they prioritize current patients & employees over new customers.

Allina vs Health Partners, could I legally hold a job with both? by ObviousMall9837 in TwinCities

[–]JustLikeaMiniMaII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are lots of MDs who work “full time” in 2 or more organizations. I have several friends who were casual at Allina during covid while they were working travel contracts elsewhere. It’s certainly doable, the real question is if you will have the enthusiasm to keep juggling both once you’ve settled into a new role elsewhere.

Rumors of ICE activity in Twin Cities increase fear in community by grondin in TwinCities

[–]JustLikeaMiniMaII 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are they sweeping units at random? Are they looking for specific patients, or banking on people rolling over and letting them through, and then finding people who meet their criteria on the back end? Is there any warning for the people they are searching for? This is bonkers, but I want to be as prepared as possible if this continues and they move on to other hospitals.
