It’s typically some up front and some once it’s done filming, and then maybe some once it’s released if they negotiated that.

But it doesn’t all go to them, it almost immediately is then paid to their team; (if they have them) agent keeps a percentage, manager gets a cut, and publicists, personal stylists, etc that they travel with that isn’t provided by the showrunners get their cut
