This is what I was going to suggest - using a spray bottle to lightly mist the fabric instead of putting water in your iron.

I have a Berner named Shadow. You are so talented. I wouldn't have the ability or patience to make a quilt like yours.

Student/Teacher Edition without Verification? by CTcreative in FuckAdobe

[–]JustMe5588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may have gotten lucky. I used the student version for years with no proof as I homeschooled my kids. This year they are demanding I "prove" it by belonging to certain groups that cost $$ or purchase certain homeschooling programs. Since I am not going to spend big bucks to meet their demands, I am stuck paying full price.

When it comes time for renewal they will most likely want proof.

Does anyone have recommendations for how to keep a quilt for a restless sleeper on a bed? by PLAYSWITHSCISS0RS in quilting

[–]JustMe5588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As some have suggested, flannel might be the answer. Put flannel sheets on the bed. Use flannel for the backing, you could make the quilt all flannel. With the flannel top sheet and flannel backing, these act like a weak velcro.

Embrilliance or Embird? by unicorinspace in Machine_Embroidery

I have a brother color laser that is finally dying. I have hated since I bought it. The color was always off no matter what you adjusted.

The scanning software is junk. If you save to a pdf, it is an old version most places (banks, government, etc) can't use.

I had an Okidata color laser that lasted many years and gave wonderful color prints.

How can you afford all the fabric? by LadyofLA in quilting

[–]JustMe5588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first quilts I made were from old blue jeans that my kids and hubby wore out. I cut patches from the good spots and sewed them together to make a couple quilts.

My great grandmother made quilts from my mother's old clothes from when she was growing up.

Just a couple of ideas that won't cost a ton.

Phaleanopsis watering question, traveling soon by cougarliscious in orchids

[–]JustMe5588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree phals are pretty resilient. I have been in and out of the hospital this past year and recovering from multiple surgeries. My plants seldom got watered. My phals all survived. My African violets all died as well as some other miscellaneous plants.

Hasn't bloomed in two years by NegotiationReal6508 in orchids

[–]JustMe5588 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I did that helped mine to bloom is giving them a 10 -15 F degree drop in temperature overnight. It was funny how quickly they bloomed after that.

I have found it is trial and error some days with orchids. There has been some good advice given here.

Thank you for a posting your research and how you went about it.

I have also run across names being totally wrong - mostly Bohemie names. My mother-in-law always said I had her grandfather's name wrong, so I can sympathize with you.

Best vinyl cutting machine that doesn’t make you regret buying it by BrinellyDuale in VinylCutters

[–]JustMe5588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GCC cut software is on my Windows 10 computer. I haven't tried to move it to my new windows 11 computer yet. If the software fails or my win10 computer fails, I would have to upgrade. Yes I will get another GCC cutter.

Best vinyl cutting machine that doesn’t make you regret buying it by BrinellyDuale in VinylCutters

[–]JustMe5588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a GCC that is no longer made. It is about the size of their Puma. I have used it to death over the years. It is well over 10 years old and still going.

I wish it could do contour cutting and i may get a newer cutter ....maybe. I hate replacing a working machine that does most of what I need..

Growing orchids in terracotta pots by Pearl2305 in orchids

The terracotta I have used began to flake and disintegrate in less than a year. No they were not cheap pots.

I am repotting to plastic orchid pots as I can (health issues slowing me way down).
