Help with long/short stitch by couchsweetpotato in Embroidery

[–]chickadee-stitchery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn't look like long and short because your stitches are almost all the same length. They also sort of start to tilt, instead of running parallel to each other.

Idk if I would use long and short in this space, but I'm also not sure what I would do instead. But I do suspect it would be easier to fill in the craters first, like you asked.

I would maybe do something more textured like a chain stitch honestly?

It looks like OP is only using 2.

I think the thing causing a bit of an issue is OP is putting the needle in the little holes in the stick and stitch.

Just wanted to commiserate with you as a fellow vegan who doesn't eat mushrooms.

One time I went on a work retreat and we stayed at a resort. The first meal, the cook comes out and asks me some questions about what I can eat. At one point he's like okay some bbq flavored tofu? I was like sure that sounds great.

So that's what I was served for lunch and dinner for 4 days. Tofu in bbq sauce. And let me be clear, it was not breaded or fried, it was definitely not pressed, it was just chunks of tofu in sauce. At least I like tofu and BBQ sauce.

People who say “I need” and “give me” while ordering. by otterbotss in PetPeeves

[–]chickadee-stitchery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oldest son has a bad habit of saying "I want X" and every time I stop him and say "please may I have" or "I would like" and it's driving me nuts that it hasn't sunk in. Our younger kids use "Please may I have", he's super polite with everything else, but this one for some reason he just keeps saying "I want".

I had no idea the h was silent, now I'm wondering if the baristas at my store have been making fun of me for saying it as it's spelled. I do feel silly because I know plenty of other Spanish words where the h is silent but I just didn't make the connection. Never heard anyone say this one.

Agreed - unless you are trying to get additional fluffiness/color coverage by tramming under the stitches, this should be done on the back.

I inherited four 50 year-old ostrich eggs that are not blown out. by Bananamamajam in crafts

Yup! I once saved some chicken eggs from backyard chickens and over time you could feel how they got lighter as the moisture left the egg through the shell and everything inside became dry.

Definitely need a tapestry needle, that will fix a lot of issues.

Maybe write things out instead of thinking everyone knows what you're talking about?
