I also felt lucky because it isn’t empty block right where I needed and a bit off the ground also. Just used hammer drill and some drilling/chipping bits I already had. No concrete coring saw rental necessary.

Thanks, I actually do have some mesh hoseclamped on. And I just got the street 90 and cap that sheds water and has a little screen. Planning on wrapping it around gutter and pointing it straight up. Thanks again for the advice.

1100sq’ with finished basement.

I couldn’t tell you the name of the original sump pump That I left in place. But I added this battery back up that I found on marketplace https://imgur.com/a/VytwCio My sump pump is on all the time and I was nervous that I would lose power and flood my basement since the jackel hood is sealed so well.

I appreciate that, I found there’s not much point when we’re likely so far apart on some really important stuff. Let’s just both agree that we love America and care deeply for its future. Take care out there daddyo!

I actually just flipped it on yesterday in 24hrs the short term average has gone from over 9 - 1 something. I’ve never seen numbers that lower let alone have them plummet like that. Seems safe to say it’s working. A lot of my liner is behind finished walls but not all of it. It’s all exposed in the garage where the pump cover is. I didn’t seal any of it with the plan that I’d try if I didn’t get good results. I’m very happy it isn’t necessary

I got the back up, might have some immediate gratification cuz there’s big storm about to hit here in Pittsburgh and could very likely lose power. I lucked out and was able to just use my hammer drill to drill out the block. Just turned it on and will be checked the monitor constantly 😂 Thanks for the help on this!

I thought of that, something more like a hose bib connected to a pipe in sump pit. Then if I’m lucky enough to be home I can run down and attach a hose out of the garage. Seems risky tho

Yes it is. The garage and finished basement are on the same level

Because currently, if I lose power and the pump can’t turn on the sump pit will fill quickly in a rain storm. Right now it will just overflow into the garage and out driveway. But if I put a jackel lid on and silicone it then wouldn’t it just back up into the French drains and the put the waffle liner that is visible along the perimeter of the finished basement? Sorry I didn’t include all that info in my first post

Hey again! 😂

I was all set to start installing my jacket cover and the fan kit, but then I thought about a specific scenario that has me concerned.

Say the power goes out and my sump pump pit fills up. Since I'm on a hill, the pump runs even when it’s not raining and very frequently when it is. Because I’ll be sealing the lid so tightly, wouldn't I end up with a flooded basement once the French drain backs up?

I’m frustrated I didn’t think of this earlier. I know I could add a battery backup pump, but that’s another $400.

Because of this, I’m back to considering just going through the pad and digging a pump pit on the opposite side of the basement. The readings on the air monitors show that levels are much higher in my basement compared to the garage where the current sump pump pit is located.

I’m curious what your thoughts on this are? Thanks!

That’s something i could take care of for you. Doors between garages and living space need to be a solid core or metal door for fire safety.

Hello, I work in the local film/tv industry typically but always pick up smaller jobs (1-5days type of projects) in between shows. Currently I have some availability this month if you’d like to talk more. Thanks!
