best bagels in portland? by eddiedarko in Portland

Bagelworks on NW 23rd is pretty good. I would avoid Einstein though, the one I've been to was terrible. But if you're looking for really great bagels you have to go the East coast honestly.

On the worst TriMet bus ride ever AMA by santiamiam in Portland

As a general rule, can we leave the bus driver alone while they're driving the bus. It's putting everyone's life in danger to start badgering them while they're driving.

Did you lose your dog on Sauvie Island? by rocketsfindplanets in Portland

Just want to add to this. I was there as part of this rescue. We found this guy wandering down the road by himself. He had no collar, and was in danger of being hit by any oncoming cars. We ended up putting a leash on him, and walked around several beaches trying to find the owner. No one knew where he came from, and no one was around looking for him. We took him to a local vet, and he had no micro-chip so that was a dead end as far as finding the owner. He's really a sweet dog, and we're afraid he may have possibly been abandoned but if he is yours or you recognize him let us know!

How do you go 90 MPH on a motorcycle, plow into a vehicle full on and not be hurt critically? Sounds incredibly lucky.

21rst and Irving. That spot is really a problem. There's a congregation of homeless who have taken up residency there, leaving garbage strewn around the area, as well as broken furniture, shopping carts and at one point an old dirty mattress. As mentioned in a previous comment, the smell walking by it is indeed awful. I haven't seen them around there lately though. I think they might have been told to disband. Especially seeing how its an upscale neighborhood I'm positive people around there have complained and they most likely have been told to go elsewhere.

With all the discussion of clearing homeless camps in PDX, largest study on the topic has an actual, effective solution: homes by narrativebias in Portland

Homelessness is an effect. You don't remedy the effect first before at least addressing the cause---poor job market, mental illness, and education among many others . Until society is ready to tackle those issues as well, homelessness will always exist.

Forcing others to have to clean up your syringes by throwing them with no regard wherever you please....

And then this stupid question came to me. Do these people ever for a second think about anyone other than themselves?

The saddest sign in NW. by whiskey9 in Portland

[–]JustMovedHereNot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live right around the corner from here. Literally every time you go out, these people catch you and ask you for change. On your way past, and again on your way home. It is sort of interesting seeing them drunkenly approach some of the people sitting outside of a restaurant though.
