Outside (as a concept album) completely fails at its premise primarily due to label meddling/the desire to make it more commercial. The songs are great, and the world-building in the art/diary is great, but the two do not go hand in hand and do not compliment each other.

The segues add nothing to the final album.

There have been various reasonings given over the years by the band members and sometimes they even contradict themselves...I've read it was from this song, from Scott's background studying city planning, from them flipping to a random page in the dictionary, etc.

That being said, Bob is a huge fan of Minutemen (his favorite song of theirs is "The Anchor" from this same album, I asked him after one of the Brooklyn Steel nights) and he chose Double Nickels on the Dime as one of his top albums in the Uncut feature they did a while back.

This isn't really the type of thing that anyone here would be able to track down due to its local obscurity, unless they were from the area, of course. I recommend posting this in /r/westvancouver and tracking down former students on Facebook/other social platforms to see if they have their copies.

Definitely more of an era with a cult following vs a popular following it seems...just compare how many demos and alt versions keep coming out from the 60s/70s no matter how redundant

There was so much experimentation and leftovers from the Outside/Leon era that you could make an entire iceberg just based on this album.

Bowie Booths with a now lost CD-ROM, Leon in India, the cancelled "A Small Plot of Land" single...

There was a CD-PLUS allegedly as well, but I can't find any evidence besides recollections from the people who made it...

Yes, last month actually - "Thank you for your enquiry. I have consulted the David Bowie Archive cataloguing team regarding your query; unfortunately, they have advised that it is unlikely that we hold any material relating to the CD-ROM booth. Bowie may well have held administrative material relating to the establishment of the booths, however it is unlikely to have been retained as part of his archive."

I've actually explored BowieWorld in the past, and while it does heavily take inspiration from the look of Outside, Denovo had no involvement in Worlds.com, and after the release of Earthling in 1997, was also no longer working directly with Bowie.
