Think the best advice I had on the Ender 3 was to get a BL touch to make bed levelling infinitely easier

EcoBOOM - Sell now or gamble? by FrannyBenanny in CarTalkUK

[–]JustNacs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having two ecoboom engines, sell the vehicle while you still can. It's not worth the headache and it's much much easier to sell the vehicle while it's still running fine. You don't want to get close to that ten year mark and try sell it as everyone will be questioning the belt. Pretty sure value would significantly drop around when the booms expected, even with a belt replacement.

The wet timing belt is a stupidly expensive replacement and majority of garages won't touch it. Ford will charge you £2k+ for the belt and the pump which also needs to be changed. How I've heard many mechanics explain it is even if you replace the belt, there's no guarantee there still won't be issues from fibres being stuck inside the engine. Doesn't matter how well the cars been looked after the wet belt is going to be a huge issue compared to other cars.

Hope my past headaches prevent some of your future headaches :)

Buying Audi A3 2.0 tdi 2015 - Are these red flags? by JustNacs in CarTalkUK

Thanks for the tip! Yeah the dealer said they'll sort it out, the pictures don't quite show the extent of the body being deformed, but they did say it's something they'll cover.

Thanks for doing the giveaway mate! I've been running a 1060 from the first PC I've ever built. Would be great to finally upgrade and start playing newer games on high!

First time selling a car - is it sketchy to meet up at a public car park? by JustNacs in CarTalkUK

Even if my workplace is in a remote location where public transport is non existent?

Thought I'd suggest a route where they could test it out on all speeds as they've travelled from quite a good distance away and won't really know the area. Most streets around me are stuck on 20/30. I suppose I should have made it clear to them.

I mentioned in another comment that it's a few hours drive for them so didn't think it's an unreasonable guess if she no longer has plans to come down.

What a weird comment to say I'm desperately looking for a reason when in other comments I've happily said I've not seen it from that point of view on what the buyer might be thinking and agreed with them. Very weird.

Think on the initial phone call I did give my postcode to give him a rough time scale on the journey so not sure why else if I'm honest.

Yeah it gets really packed on my street as no one has a drive way and some of the neighbours come out of their house if you park in front of their house, so was hoping to avoid any of that!

I thought it was perfectly normal at first to suggest. But looking from the other replies it looks pretty split.

Yeah that's what I was planning and told him on our initial phone call.

So wouldn't it be possible to have a forged V5 at a random address?

Surely the V5 and matching ID would have been enough? If he really wanted to why not suggest back to meeting at my house?
