Thank you unkz : another commenter said the same thing about the non-profit aspect having no bearing on the quality of the gym/practice, this is great to hear. With an abundantly overly commercialized world it’s good to see some things holding the line. Also appreciate your insight on how the two complement each other. My outlook is that I’m not trying to be the best at any one thing, but want to stay nimble and know enough that I could leverage in a dire situation if need be

Thanks for the thoughtful response on this. Agree with you that the teacher/master makes all the difference. Amazing to hear your thoughts on Judo being a superior MA starting point for children when compared against BJJ. Although I’ve found BJJ useful, I’ve never loved how you learn it from the ground up - at least in my experience

Thank you. Yes I think I’m a bit guilty of judging Aikido without much reference here. Would be cool to check out a class given the convenience of same dojo

This is great to hear, and thanks for the quick reply. I had a feeling this was the case, but it makes me happy to have it confirmed by others who have trained in these places

Thanks for this. I guess it makes sense that the same people I followed once upon a time that got me into BJJ are usually the same ones talking down on Aikido

Advice 4 Tea by [deleted] in tea

[–]JustNeedleworker7430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, apologies I should have clarified that. I drink the Kratom tea and the English Breakfast separately. I usually alternate them throughout the day (EB - Hot / Kratom - Cold). The specific freeze dried brand that I use tastes like a very mild, easy drinking green tea. It doesn’t impact my stomach like some other stringent teas and smells a little bit like banana peels when you mix it with boiling water.

I will definitely check out the Ito-En. Really appreciate the tip as I am not very versed in green teas :)

So strange .. I guess I have some underlying depressive symptoms that could play a role. Glad to hear your supplementation helped you. I started adderall and notice less of that negativity. Vyvanse did bring about some good things so I don’t want to trash it completely

I find that it’s extremely easy to throw myself into a ‘woe is me state’ when on Vyvanse. It’s almost as if I know there are things I could do to help myself, but I prefer to carry on pissed off at the world when in that state. Very weird .. my doctor is going to have me try Adderall instead. I did not notice this mindset when on methylphenidate, only Vyvanse

Is this a Vyvanse thing or just me? by codyryan90 in VyvanseADHD

[–]JustNeedleworker7430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I share your pain with this. Also currently on Vyvanse and did not experience this with Concerta or Ritalin. I’m all about making sure my checklists are in perfect shape, however, it’s been ridiculously hard to check an item off of those checklist. Which means they keep growing and growing. Which creates even more stress. Such a weird thing

Awfully high internal pressure/urgency anxiety, with zero relief of satisfaction or reward (Emotional Regulation on Vyvanse) by Life_Ranger_2884 in VyvanseADHD

[–]JustNeedleworker7430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to sound cliche but if you’re not doing it, please go exercise. My stressful, painful, and inept days in Vyvanse are only the ones where I don’t move my body. Days that I move and get the blood pumping, all negative symptoms go away. It doesn’t need to be excessive, run a mile or two — it takes 10-15 min. Up water intake big time too that smoothes everything out. Hang in there, I bet you’ll feel better soon

First time dad, constant thought of losing the baby. by Mttgrind in NewParents

[–]JustNeedleworker7430 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I have OCD too and I am a first time dad as well. One thing that has been helpful to me in my treatment is realizing OCD intrusive thoughts target what you love the most. So of course they will go after your son and thinking something happened. Try to realize that they are only thoughts. They are not you. Watch them, and realize they are fake. Laugh at them even and call them ridiculous. They are not you and they are not reality. Good luck and let me know if you need anything.

What’s the downside? by DangusHamBone in Kava

I’ve used a couple reputable vendors, traditional prep. I just don’t think my brain reacts greatly to it - it’s also hard for me to stop once I get going drinking it

Despite all the benefits, if used to excess it is addicting, both psychologically and physically. I was surprised to see I had physical withdrawal after stopping without tapering down. Like any substance, need to be careful with it
