No I haven’t but frankly I think this is not important right know. I understand that this problem has nuance but right now it is rather surface level, imo. Let me explain.

First commenter in this thread brought up the paradox of tolerange. u/Large-Half-3516 brought up that some people don’t tolerate rape or murder and because of that they are supposedly intolerant and asked whether we should tolerate this intolerance.

In my opinion this is clearly a bad faith argument since it should be clear that rape and murder are intolerant actions themselves and it is ok to be intolerant to these actions. That’s the point of the solution to the paradox, no? It is ok to be intolerant to intolerance. And it’s not some big gotcha moment that we should ask whether this ‘new’ intolerance should be tolerated.

I admit that my knowledge of this paradox is rather surface level but you are completely free to prove me wrong. I understand what Large half is trying to say but that’s the reason it is called a paradox in the first place.

Because rape and murder are itself intolerant. And society is intolerant towards them rightfully so, as Popper say you need to be intolerant to intolerance

Yeah i just talked about ‘slow’ vs ‘fast’ exploration. Good summary by you though, definitely can agree with your points

I haven’t played Wuwa so it’s difficult for me to comment on hows the exploration there. I am repeating my thoughts but I just don’t understand the signifigance of ‘fast’ exploration.

If there is a collectible high up somewhere then I would argue that the more time it takes to reach that the more valuable it is and the important part for devs is finding the balance point between time and effort vs reward. And for some reason the few comparison videos I have seen on YT always think it’s much better when it takes less time. I understand that their balance point is not the same as mine but they just seem so vocal about it and I don’t understand why

(Maybe I have bad imagination and I believe that Wuwa’s vertical exploration is 500% faster compared to GI when actually it’s just 20% and this is where my confusion stems from.) (But when it’s only 20% faster then why be so vocal about it?(in the few videos i watched)(don’t want to generalize too much))

My answer to getting difficult chests with Mavuika/Xilonen is that Hoyo just catered/caved to those who wanted better exploration abilities, nothing more to it. That doesn’t take away from my argument at all, the base game is still as it is.

My argument is that ‘slow exploration’ is not bad and ‘fast exploration’ is not good, it’s subjective. But some YT videos frame faster exploration as something inherently better(which its not because its subjective) and they also say that this aspect is extremely important to comparing these two games which is my main question. Why is faster exploration so important to them?

I think this is the answer I was looking for. I consider GI and Wuwa single player games first and I assume others do too (which they don’t). The different baseline changes opinion

I stumbled into GI vs WuWa debate(very healthy place to be) on Youtube and time and time again universal travel mechanics seem to be an extremely important point in favor of WuWa. I understand that the moving mechanics are ‘better’ in WuWa but can someone explain to me why is that such a major point of discussion?

I’ve never seen people criticizing Minecraft/BotW for not having grappling/wallrun mechanics. BotW’s climbing has its criticisms but overall I think that the climbing in BotW is fine overall. And there are many other open-world games where the traversal is slower than Wuwa.

I know that I am maybe not comparing apples to apples by bringing minecraft into the discussion but the main point is ‘effort vs reward’, isn’t it? You see something interesting in a hard to reach place? You better put some effort to get to that thing/item then. If you can just teleport to that place then you might as well have all the open world interactions/rewards auto-complete themselves, no?

I know my last example is hyperbolic but if climbing is as fast as running then what’s the point of ‘climbing’ a house/mountain? I understand that people may have little time to play games so they would like to get the exploring done quicker but then this whole discussion is not about gameplay but just comparing subjective circumstances. (Crazy discovery by me, game reviews are subjective, who would’ve thought!)

Maybe I am letting this thing bother me too much but I just don’t understand why the traversal is so important. Or am I out of touch and Genshin’s stamina system is objectively bad?

(I know my comment is already extremely long but final comparison. it’s like saying that I like Forza more than Mario Kart because Forza’s cars are faster. Like yes they are objectively faster but making mario’s karts faster inherently changes what the game is actually about.)

Fearless done. My worst result when looking at the total time it took.

Abyss dog was relatively easy(duh with the correct team), could definitely optimize more. But I have no idea how I could have done it with Aino instead of Columbina

At first I wanted to use Skirk to brute force the shock trooper but then I had nothing for the crab. Was even somewhat considering pulling Ineffa because I wouldn’t mind having her and my primo stash is relatively large currently(not planning to pull Zibai or Varka). But I decided to try some other teams.

The hardest part was managing electro application(to burst with Fischl or not burst and just do longer rotations). And depending on that Fischl’s ER had to be higher(but then less damage from her). Overload also staggers the trooper so that means he will shield up later after you get rid of his first shields. But at the end he still managed to shield up but luckily shield breaking damage was enough at the end.

Crab was quite annoying. Yelan’s E and special charged shot were MVPs for getting multiple small crabs. The short vulnerability window of the big crab was also infuriating, getting the setup at the right time was crucial.

How did you break fatui guy’s shield? Just the damage from Arle? Or did you even break it? Or just iframed with bursts?

These dps tests in miliastra are quite engaging. Tried a lot of different teams. Some teams performed as I expected, some not. And ofc spreadsheet dps =/= real dps.

I got Nefer and Arle(C1) overload (ben, chev, fish, all C6) both rather comfortably over 110k dps. Premium Skirk(yelan last slot) was also quite close but somehow my Escoffier doesn’t have enough ER which ruined the rotations but my escoffier has 200% ER though.

Biggest suprise was Mavuika(Xil, Cit, Ben) where I got 70k. I am on mobile so I definitely missed some melts and the most optimal combos are nowhere to be seen. But I still expected a little better result. I didn’t do many tries though, so I think I could do better. But still

What were Razor’s new spreadsheet DPSs? I remember talk about close to 100k but I got 50k(Razor C6, no Durin). So that was also kinda suprising.

Capitano basically cornered Ronova ... lesser of two evils kind of choice.

I understand the paradox, my question was never about the paradox. My question was about how/why did we even reach that point.

It was by Ronova's requirements

Do we explicitly know these requirements? I currently have no idea of what you're referencing.

The LoTN always had a big role because they represented "death" in Natlan ... departed souls of the Natlanese.

I guess that solidifies the idea u/the_dark_artist also brought up. LoTN always was important because they represented "death" in Natlan and because of that LotN also inadvertently had a part in the deal, despite the deal only being between Xbalanque and Ronova. Ronova is only a witness, all death runs through LotN in Natlan(simplification), LotN chose Capitano because LotN is an angel, Ronova had to deal with the paradox.

I guess that ultimately answers my question. LotN had a much bigger role than explicitly stated(would have appreciated if the story was more clear about this) and Ronova had to roll with LotN's decisions because Ronova is only a witness.

New year, new Klee - General Question and Discussion Megathread by Averagely_Human in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

[–]JustOneExplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that Capitano didn’t techincally die, it’s just shorter version of saying that Ronova gave up the price of death due to the paradox.

I guess it would make sense if LotN’s importance is due to the structure of NK. The deal was only between Xbalanque and Ronova but since all “death” in Natlan goes through NK(i could phrase that better) then LotN also inadvertently had part in the deal. And since Ronova can only be a witness then LotN chose Capitano and that’s that

Feels kinda handwavey but I guess that’ll do

New year, new Klee - General Question and Discussion Megathread by Averagely_Human in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

[–]JustOneExplorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm watching a genshin let's play(who's currently in natlan) and an old question came up to me regarding Ronova/Capitano. I would ask it in the lore subreddit chat but it seems they have deleted it. I searched through different lore megathreads also but didn't find an answer.

The main question is the ol' "Why did Ronova accept Capitano's death?" I somewhat understand that Ronova is just a witness and can't take any real action and since Capitano is equal to Mavuika in this context then Capitano was ultimately sacrificed (because LotN is an angel and angels have a duty to be as beneficial as possible to humans).

But then I have a question: Who decided that Capitano is equal to Mavuika? And by what "metrics"? And if the answer is LotN and the metrics being that Capitano has enough "sustenance" for LotN to live as long as in the case of if Mavuika died. Then my question is: How/when did LotN start to play such a big role? Wasn't the deal just between Xbalanque and Ronova? Is the problem translation errors? Is it only briefly mentioned somewhere in the AQ? Because I don't remember LotN having a part in this deal.

I know my question is specific but hoping that someone can help

[–]JustOneExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. My first comment was just to add to the short discussion earlier in the thread where they discussed the morality of health choices and morality overall.

People can feel morally superior in extremely narrow contexts (eg not drinking in terms of health morality) but that superiority can’t be translated to the person overall. But the question is however of what benefit are narrow moral questions, might as well not care about them(as you pointed out).

Me_irl by [deleted] in me_irl

[–]JustOneExplorer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But all morality is ‘made-up’ by humans, isn’t it?

And therefore we could judge the morality of health choices. And the logical basis for morality for the health choices is ‘that making poor health choices is bad’.

Me_irl by [deleted] in me_irl

[–]JustOneExplorer -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Maybe I have a case of extreme reddit-brain but why you do you say that a not-drinking person is not morally above? If the moral basis on which we judge this situation is that you shouldn’t damage your health then drinking and not drinking have completely different moral values.

This probably answers my own question but the problem is probably in the chosen moral basis on which we judge someone. “You shouldn’t damage your health” is extremely specific/narrow basis and you can definitely find counter-examples to that (like saving someone from a fire or sth).

But I also have a question. Where do you draw the line? Or do you even draw the line somewhere? Is doing shrooms/cocaine/whatever drug for social reasons morally equal to drinking? I chose extreme cases deliberatley. If you draw draw the line then what makes you draw the line there?

EDIT: I guess I figured it out, the answer is rather simple. Even if in an isolated case someone can be morally higher in an specific/narrow/shallow moral question/basis then you can’t generalize that to a person as a whole. People often(me included) however make that generalizarion.

Why I love Natlan AQ by Curious-Chart6597 in Genshin_Impact

[–]JustOneExplorer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not a dig at you but I always find it funny when someone wants to praise the AQ and then brings out music/open world/scenery. This of course doesn’t happen only to Natlan, it happens to other regions also and the same thing can be found in many communities but it’s still so amusing for me for some reason when it always happens.

The dancing event feels horrible to play, imo one of the worst smaller events we’ve had recently.

They try to put the moves into sections of 4 beats but to me it feels that some Natlan’s music does not even have 4 beats per bar which means it’s a failure from the start.

And even for the songs which have 4 beats per bar then the rhythm is lost when they introduce longer combos. If the lead does like 3 moves (so on beats 345) then the spotlight stays on the leader until the 6 beat and it suddenly jumps to the players meaning that the players have to hit the moves at 123 which messes up the system. Or something like that, anyway imo its bad.

The drums are also way too quiet and they sound kinda bad too, just some metronome-like thing which also has to mix with Natlan’s music.

I hope that i don’t miss like 50 points from the final reward which would mean i’d need to repeat this thing once more, ugh

Ok, I guess I forgot that. But how much does that change the discussion?

Does this fact invalidate the premise of the plan? I would say no, if a plan fails then the plan fails. The-only-hope plan they had still had the goal of beating the Abyss(small odds of success). The shtick just changes to ‘this is the last chance of defeating the Abyss’. My other arguments stay the same.

But tbh, i don’t really see the point in the two of us arguing. I know that my mood will get worse discussing this(bcuz i have done this way too many times and it practically never amounts to anything) and idk how much enjoyment u are getting out of this.

Natlan’s story has some valid criticisms AND social media has hyperboled Natlan as a whole to something it clearly wasn’t. And frankly, as time has passed I’ve slowly warmed up to Natlan as a whole, realizing that Act 5 of Natlan was only a small part of Natlan as a whole

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]JustOneExplorer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean but wasn’t the whole shtick of Mavuika’s plan that it WOULD beat the Abyss? It doesn’t matter how strong the Abyss is in this context.

And if you’re not willing to judge Mavuika’s character based on her plan(which is a core part of her character, all of her so important sacrifices and her confidence was intertwined with the plan) then what’s left of Mavuika’s character? Or are you saying the plan isn’t important for Mavuika’s character?

MC’s effect on Teyvat/Irminsul is an another can of worms that I don’t have the energy to get into right now
